DM just killed my frostmage, and the party cleric in one fell swoop... throwing three creatures that are CR 13 against our two members when we 'let the plot' to explore. Now I would just up and quit, but I've decided instead that it may be best to prove a point to him... I know those CR's are harder to beat, but he felt we were both overpowered.... the cleric was using DMM quite extensively.

SO.... Anybody know how to build a really brutal battlefield control wizard? Because I intend to do this with a wizard. I want to be able to De-buff to hell and also to prevent the DM from being able to reduce  the cleric, who will now be building a healbot, party buffer, from being reached... as he is using cloistered cleric to do this.

 So any ideas besides Necromancy?

I will use necromancy however... but other ideas too

Wizards shouldn't normally be blasters - read treantmonk's guide to being god, it should give you some insight into which spells to chose for either build. Just remember you can always reflavor spells...grease could just be ice slick...scorching ray could be freezing ray, etc

It's true wizards are not normally blasters, but that doesn't mean they make bad ones surely?

Level? Books? You left out a ton of stuff we really need to know... The various wizard guides focus heavily on BFC. So checking them is the best place to start.

You cannot beat the DM with raising the power level of your toons ...

Introduce your DM to the terror that is Astral Projection in convient Nightmare form.

Tihs is true, however, I'm trying to show him what IS and what isn't broken. I was playing an evoker only. It's an aggravation that this keeps happening however because he doesn't understand that evocation doesn't really get much better at any level.

Level 10, human only, all books allowed is pretty much how it works.
