| #1necrosnoop110Mar 28, 2008 6:51:24 | 3.5 Core + Expanded Psionics Handbook Only I have a friend who is a newer DM and his story requires him to limit Scrying & Teleporting at a certain juncture. What tools does he have at his disposal to do this fairly? 1) Nondetection anything else? Thanks, Necky |

| #3Omen_of_PeaceMar 28, 2008 8:18:22 | Lead lining !Scrying There's also an item in Bunko's store (from Dragon) that lets you damage people scrying on you. As for Teleport, you need to be familiar with the location. If the walls get torn down and rebuilt every day slightly differently, it won't work anymore. Also, illusions : if the area scried was under a Hallucinatory Terrain effect, the players can't teleport there. |
| #4skydragonknightMar 28, 2008 8:24:48 | Sealed Demiplanes only accessable by portals. Use a custom planar trait to Null divination spells targetting anything inside the plane(but not spells from inside targetting outside). |

Step 2: Have the character in question purchase the Hat of Anonymity described within the MiC. Step 3: Have the character in question wear the hat at all times. 'Nuff said. Beats the hell out of Lead Poisoning, you know? |
| #6skydragonknightMar 28, 2008 10:06:31 | Anti-Scrying, in a hand, portable form: For a single person, Mind Blank is best. I was interpreting the OP as protecting an area from scrying. |
| #7alastarMar 28, 2008 10:12:16 | ISn't there a spell in Player's guide to faerun or Spell Compendium called dimensional lock, witch does teh samne as a dimensional anchor, but on a zone? |
| #8Omen_of_PeaceMar 28, 2008 10:20:46 | That was for a room. Though I've had a DM whose important NPCs had all their stuff coated in lead. Also, the CL from the Hat of Anonymity is low - if they can teleport, they can scry on the BBEG after a few tries. edit: ninja'ed. The above is meant for Sinfire, of course. ![]() |
| #9skydragonknightMar 28, 2008 10:23:48 | That was for a room. Though I've had a DM whose important NPCs had all their stuff coated in lead. That's why I love Sealed Demiplanes. Unless the PCs have Divine Rank, there's no better protection than planar traits. |
| #10nntpMar 28, 2008 10:32:08 | Don't forget (Greater) Anticipate Teleportation from SpC. If he gets his info some other way besides scrying, this'll be a nasty surprise. |
| #11Omen_of_PeaceMar 28, 2008 11:35:54 | Well, who doesn't like personal demiplanes, sealed or not ? But not all BBEGs have access to them. Also, Scry Trap (Magic of Eberron p101) - getting zapped induces a learning behavior. |
| #12womblehunterMar 28, 2008 11:42:12 | Detect Scrying and False Vision are both PHB spells designed to fool scrying. Scry Trap is a fun spell in Magic of Eberron that shoots magic lightning at the eyes of whoever is scrying on you. So much fun. |
| #13auorix_dupMar 28, 2008 11:46:18 | Well since everyone is going out of core +EPH, there is a 3rd party book with a spell that was like a teleport trap...it redirected all teleports into the AoE to an alternate location, usually a cell or something. It was used to protect important sites, throne rooms, treasure rooms, and maiden rooms. ![]() |
