| #1captain_castleNov 16, 2009 22:59:19 | I'm running a Dragonborn Shapeshifting Druid, human as base race pre dragonborn. I'm lvl 3, and So far I haven't been super good at anything really (I've been an off healer so far) and there is a strong Dragon theme to my group (We are being tasked by good dragons to do things, one of the guys in my group is half dragon and one in my group is dragonborn) so my character decided to go dragonborn to both fit in the group and to enhance my plain humanness. Now, some house ruling, my DM allowed me to make up a new ability progression for the dragonborn to more fit my character. Rather than get breath or vision or wings, he allowed me to take a progression that will benefit my shapeshifting. So it's something like: 1hd: Natural Spell (which he ruled WILL work with my shapeshifting to allow spellcasting) 3 hd: Improved Natural Attack Bite 9 hd: Improved Natural Attack: Claw 12 hd: Improved Natural Attack: Slam Those aren't set in stone, but it's the general idea we're rolling with right now. Now, we can use any 3.5, except we're not allowing Exalted or BoVD (too bad I can't use that spider scout spell) so I'm really just looking at feats and such that'll improve my character, without serious powergaming. I don't want my dm to regret letting me house rule my guy by making him uber or anything. Right now I've got Skill Focus: Concentration, and Natural Spell as my first lvl feats, but I haven't chosen my 3rd lvl feat. So if you guys could give me some ideas for feats to augment my shapeshifting (the real focus of the char) and maybe even some prestige class ideas? If I've left anything out I apologize, and will be happy to answer any questions to clear things up. |

Problem: no spellcasting advancement. The ability to be a dragon all day long makes up for I think though. That said, dragons are not the best forms to be taking from an CO point of view, but they are cool. Edit: Hmm, upon re-reading your post, I think you may be using an alternate rule I am unfamiliar with. Is 'Shapeshifting' different from the Druids wildshape? If so, disregard my post. |

You give up an animal companion and instead choose to take on several forms that you can change into and out of at will. Lvl 1 is a basic predator form (I chose wolf for instance) that gives like +4 str, +4 Nat Armor, and a Bite Attack at a D6, with 50 move. Lvl 5 you get an aerial form, lvl 9 or so you get a better combat form, lvl 12 you get a treant or shambling mound form, and at like lvl 15 or 16 you get elemental. But the normal restriction is you can't cast spells in the form or take feats to improve your shapeshifting. Now, my DM has ruled I can cast spells with the natural spell feat, but I can't take the feats that let me burn a Wild Shape use to enhance myself, since I don't have a set number of uses. |
