| #1irianApr 19, 2008 3:20:16 | Hello everybody, for a new Eberron character I am looking for ideas on how to make the best use of the three prestige classes Dragonmark Heir Storm Sentry and Windwright Captain in one single built. I am especially looking for possible entry classes (Swashbuckler? Bard? Marshal?) and the right mix of the three prestige classes. The character is going to be the "fifth wheel" character - he doesn't need to fill a major role. I was thinking on focussing a bit more on Leadership/Diplomacy and the like. In general every Non-Forgotten Realms book is allowed with the exception of Excalted Deeds and Vile Darkness; Dragon material, web enhancements etc. and Forgotten Realms stuff could be allowed but is pending approval by the DM. Starting level is going to be 8. I rolled the following stats: 16, 16, 15, 15, 8, 7 Notable (house) rules: Fractional BAB/Saves No flaws Prestige classes other than the ones noteted in the title are not allowed for this character. Any help would be welcome! |

I could actually see this turning into a nice gishy build, but the steep skill requirements make it a bit tough. My recommendation would be Swashbuckler/Bard, as that deals with the BAB and skill requirements rather nicely. Don't know how I'd optimize this, but it'd would be an extremely flavorful build. By the way, does anyone know if you have to already have levels in Dragonmark Heir to make us of the Heir's Mark ability, or does Heir's Mark give you an effective Dragonmark Heir level to determine the caster level of your Dragonmark abilities? |

So two levels of Bard (1st Half-Elf substitution level?) and three levels of Swashbuckler as entry? By the way, does anyone know if you have to already have levels in Dragonmark Heir to make us of the Heir's Mark ability, or does Heir's Mark give you an effective Dragonmark Heir level to determine the caster level of your Dragonmark abilities? As I understood the descriptions I need at least one level in Dragonmarked Heir... am I wrong? |

Half-Elf Substitution levels highly recommended if you want to be able to defuse any combat encounter before it even begins. I finally checked Dragonmarked and apparently you don't need to take levels in Dragonmarked Heir. The Heir's Mark ability gives you an effective level in Dragonmarked Heir for the sake of your dragonmark. So, the character starts as Bard 2/Swashbuckler 3, picking Lesser Dragonmark on the way, taking one level of Storm Sentry and picking up Least Dragonmark, then going into Windwright Captain. Alternatively, if you don't like the Swashbuckler's abilities, you could replace some levels with Fighter (the Half-Elf Fighter substitution levels are actually pretty nice). |
