Hi, i'm trying to optimize my half dragon-human duskblade of gestalt
the idea is that i can advance in half dragon in 3 levels of one line of gestalt, and duskblade in the other
i'm trying to look for some class/prestige class to synerge this character.
what i have is this:
Str: 26
Dex: 8
CON:18
INT: 18
Wis: 10
Cha: 8
i have thought in this feats:
1.P.Atk
1.(Human)Versatile Spellcaster
3.Multiattack (i'm interested in low lvl power, like lvl 10 or like that)
6. knowledge devotion (i realized that this is in complete champion, so this feat is out)
i'm thinking in steedfast determination too, but that means two feats (endurance+steedfast determination) and i think that i can take some feats to the other class.

I can use the core books 3.5v, phb2, all races of... (no eberron), all completes ... (no champion), all the monster manuals(with the erratas obviously)
So in resume: i have 17levels free of this character and i need some class to make more sense at low levels.

With the duskblade i have this 2 options of great damage at low levels:
"expensive"
1) Blade of blood(3d6)+channeled shocking grasp (3d6) + str + p. atk
"cheap"
2)simply full attack with some p atk, i have high str, blade of blood could be used with 1d6, or whatever, a normal full attack using multiattack feat: bite+claw+claw, 3 attacks a low level with nice strenght bonus, is not a bad idea i suppose.

Thanks

i will be checking your crazy ideas :D

Instead of half-dragon, my suggestion would be to go dragonborn. You'll lose you're extra feat and skill point though. =/ Pick raptoran though, wings and breath attack.

As for a build: Duskblade 20//Any solid wizard build.

You may want to experiment with ur-priest and warlock, depends on your play style.

Feats I'd suggest depend on play style: spell casting heavy or channeling spells heavy. Look at a wizard or gish guide respectively. Keep in mind you only have so many feats. And you're limited to being good at only one thing.

It's best to have a "passive" class that benefits the "active" class. Wilder and paladin is a great combo, wilder and paladin both use charisma as a key stat, if you want to be a manifester you'd concentrate more on that and less on your paladin-ness. Vice-versa.

First: try looking up the Duskblade handbook. It will help with the Duskblade side of things http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=837888

Second: If you really want to get cheesy with a gestalt combo make the other side a "Jean Gray" type build (Do a google search on it with 3.5 and d&d, it'll pop up). Read the description on Arcane Chanel (Full Attack): Any wielded weapon. Telekineticly wielded weapons are counted as wielded according to the description of the Master of the Unseen Hand. You would easily be able to dish out a lot of damage and never even have to touch Blade of Blood (which I don't recommend anyway).

Third: If you are allowed to gestalt your LA, put it with the duskblade not the other side. If you make the other side a caster they need all they can get.

Fourth: If you just want a "thematically pleasing" combo: Half celestial/fiend+hover+dimension hop. Hit a target; teleport them to max distance straight up; quick cast dimension hop on self to match; hit again to teleport 5 ft straight up; take a 5 ft step to match (using hover); hit them again for max distance up again. Watch the funnies result. At 13th level we are talking about 205 ft or so (not sure on the numbers). The last hit is really just for show since they don't take damage from it. Result: It looks good, tells the other guy "leave me the h*** alone", and did I mention it just looks really cool?

I loose +8str,+2int, inmunities... gain a -2 dex.. i'm not sure of the advantages.. the LA consumes me 3 levels, but i have not problems for experience, just consumes me 3 levels of one line.

As for a build: Duskblade 20//Any solid wizard build.

i'm thinking this, but i can't use armor with wizard build, so i have to change my stats... could be at all...

that's completily other character, i want to play a duskblade xP

I cant use XPH, but i suppose that is an example.. i'm searching for that, a passive class that helps my duskblade be more powerfull... wizard is not a bad idea, but i think should exist a better synergy..

Thanks for your ideas ^^

since you are putting 1/2 Dragon on one side of the Gestalt... why be human... try this:

1/2 Dragon(+3 LA) Pixie(+4 LA) Monk 3 // Duskblade 10

this is what you get:

+5 natural armor bonus..... (+1 pixie, add +4 from 1/2 Dragon)

+4 Strength, +8 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, +8 Intelligence, +4 Wisdom, +8 Charisma

These are AWESOME attribute boosts, even with a 25 point buy, you will have far better attributes than any other character of your ECL. Also the attributes are such that you have no real weaknesses, Str becomes a Dump Stat that is offset by a HUGE boost to Dex. Thus almost All Pixies become Dex based Finnesse Characters(especially since they get Weapon Finnesse as a Bonus Feat). The other nice thing is that they dont take a Hit to Con, thus can function as a Tank without too much concern for Low Hp. The Mental stats all get great Boosts , even starting at an 8 they get are boosted to 12 minimum(Wis) or 14 Minimum(Int and Cha). So you can have good skills, Saves, without affecting your other roles no matter what they are.

"Small size": This may seem to be a Weakness, but its not. this boosts Martial Ability and Stealth... notice what it does:
+1 bonus to Armor Class, +1 bonus on attack rolls, +4 bonus on Hide checks, –4 penalty on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits 3/4 those of Medium characters. Thus they are More Accurate with their attacks, and they are harder to hit. In addition, they can be very Stealthy without even counting Greater Invisibility as a Continous at will ability. The penalty to Grapple checks, and Lifting and Carrying are to be expected, but they are also Offset by the fact that they can Add thier Dex to Escape Artist checks ot get out of a grapple. And they can have others carry thier stuff(animals, Golems, Extra Dimensional Sapces(Bag of Holding, Portable Hole, etc...))

"A pixie’s base land speed is 20 feet. It also has a fly speed of 60 feet (good) .:" Although they are slow on land .... they can Fly as easily as they Walk... so why would they ever walk(unless the circumstances required). At ECL 5, Flight is a Significant advantage that they can boost by taking the feat Flyby Attack, thus the are unreachable but can attack without any fear of response.

Low-light vision.
darkvision out to 60 feet
immunity to sleep and paralysis effects,

Skills: Pixies have a +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks.

Racial Feats: A pixie receives Dodge, Alertness, Weapon Finnesse as a bonus feats.

Spell-Like Abilities: Caster level 8th. The save DCs are Charisma-based. 1/day lesser confusion (DC 14), dancing lights, detect chaos, detect good, detect evil, detect law, detect thoughts (DC 15), dispel magic, entangle (DC 14), permanent image (DC 19; visual and auditory elements only).
DR 10/cold iron
Spell Resistance equal to 15 + class levels
Greater Invisibility (Su): A pixie remains invisible even when it attacks. This ability is constant, but the pixie can suppress or resume it as a free action.
Automatic Languages: Common, Sylvan. Bonus Languages: Elven, Gnome, Halfling.

you get a Major Boost to AC due to Monk+natural Armor+high Dex+small size + Wis

even if they hit you have DR 10/Cold Iron

but you are Flying and Invisible... how will they ever see you to target you ... or reach you ... answer: They Wont

really when i first see your idea i thought: wtf is thinking this guy?

i read your whole post and it make sense, but i have some problems:

i can't use more than one line in templates or races, so.. i can't be a pixie-half-dragon
because half dragon is a born-template, and pixie is a race, so.. i born one thing or the other... i can't have both at first level...

your idea is nice, but i can't reach it...

P.D.: the progression of the races/templates is like Savage Species
P.D.: the pixie doesn't gain weapon finesse as bonus feat

Thanks for your idea ^^

P.D.: the pixie doesn't gain weapon finesse as bonus feat

yes they do ... as per WotC Official Errata, Monster Manual v.3.5

they gain:

Dodge(as per MM1)
Alertness(Errata)
Weapon Finnesse(Errata)

if you are playing with Race advancing on one side.... just put Ghaele Eladrin(20 lvl racial progression class) on one side.... you will gain Cleric Casting+ lots of Spell-like abilities + great Attribute boosts

You could stick with Duskblade 20 on one side, and the other do something like:

Half-Dragon 3 / Swashbuckler 3 / Scout 14

The Swashbuckler gets you INT to damage with a finessable weapon (like a spiked chain), and Scout gives you great skills, a few bonus feats, good reflex save, and Skirmish. You can race around the battle field delivering channeled spells + skirmish damage. If you can be a Raptoran, you'll be able to fly and can accomplish great things via Flyby Attack. Perhaps grab Dragon Breath feat from Races of the Dragon, along with Entangling Exhalation from the same book. You'll entangle your foes, then swoop around the battlefield nailing them with your spiked chain.

Sure you're not invincible, but you'll be pretty cool.

quickcast dimensional door, then full attack with all my feats and abilities:

Half-Dragon 3/ Swashbuckler3/ rogue4 // Duskblade 10

Add daring Outlaw and exotic weapon proficency spiked chain or elven courtblade

Pros: Int synergy, techinically all good saves, good number of skill points and the ability to deliver chaneled spell with sneack attacks.

Con: Class abilities neglected from your characters medium armor depedancy, partial dependancy on teletransportation to achieve flanking due to low mobility

The point of Gestalt is, least, avoiding redundant or mutually exclusive abilities, obtaning bonuses from the secondary class to the primary and, most important, synergies. This combination fills the two last criteria but fails the first.

i can't play races with "LA: --" (no level adjustment) in 3.5 manuals

i thought you were using Savage Species... the Class Progression for a Ghaele is in there

if not... then just play a Trumpet Archon on one side of the Gestalt(greater Teleport @ Will, +14th lvl Cleric Spells)

or Ogre Mage 12/ Warlock 5// Duskblade 17
Ogre Mage stats
OGRE MAGES AS CHARACTERS
Ogre mage characters possess the following racial traits.

+10 Strength, +6 Constitution, +4 Intelligence, +4 Wisdom, +6 Charisma.
Large size. –1 penalty to Armor Class, –1 penalty on attack rolls, –4 penalty on Hide checks, +4 bonus on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits double those of Medium characters.
Space/Reach: 10 feet/10 feet.
An ogre mage’s base land speed is 40 feet. It also has a fly speed of 40 feet (good).
Darkvision: Ogre mages can see in the dark up to 60 feet.
Racial Hit Dice: An ogre mage begins with five levels of giant, which provide 5d8 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +3, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +4, Ref +1, and Will +1.
Racial Skills: An ogre mage’s giant levels give it skill points equal to 8 x (2 + Int modifier [minimum 1]). Its class skills are Concentration, Listen, Spellcraft, and Spot.
Racial Feats: An ogre mage’s giant levels give it two feats.
+5 natural armor bonus.
Spell-Like Abilities: Caster level 9th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
At will - darkness, invisibility;
1/day - charm person (DC 14), cone of cold (DC 18), gaseous form, sleep (DC 14).

Special Qualities (see above):
Regeneration 5(Ex): Fire and acid deal normal damage to an ogre mage. An ogre mage that loses a limb or body part can reattach it by holding the severed member to the stump. Reattachment takes 1 minute. If the head or some other vital organ is severed, it must be reattached within 10 minutes or the creature dies. An ogre mage cannot regrow lost body parts.

Spell Resistance 19.
Automatic Languages: Common, Giant. Bonus Languages: Dwarven, Goblin, Infernal, Orc.
Favored Class: Sorcerer.
Level adjustment +7.

quickcast dimensional door, then full attack...

Unless your DM houserules it, per Dimension Door's description, you cannot act after casting this spell. Even if you quickcast it, RAW you cannot attack, move, blow your nose, etc. after doing so.

unless you have a Class feature(Telflamar Shadowlord) or feat that aloows you to do something.... like this:

Sun School[Tactical](CWar p112)req: Flurry of Blows class ability,Base Attack Bonus +4
You may use the following 3 tactical maneuvers:
Inexorable Progress of Dawn – If you hit an opponent with the first two attack from a Flurry of Blows, your opponent must move back 5’ and you may move forward 5’. Neither movement provokes an Attack of Opportunity.
Blinding Sun of Noon – If you successfully Stun an opponent on two consecutive rounds, your opponent is Confused for 1d4 rounds after recovering from the Stun.
Flash of Sunset – If you move next to an opponent using the Monk class ability ‘Abundant Step’ or Dimensional Door, you may make one attack at your highest bonus at the end of your action.
oh, i didn't know that until now... i suppose Flee the Scene has the same problem...
i liked the ogre mage, the people that i'll play the gestalt campaign use the arcane strike in a shity way so i'll have to think other character from the start...

However i will have in my mind the ogre mage, could be nice with some nice combination of classes or prestige classes (i can use two prestige classes at the same level) or something like that...

What do you recommend me? :D

that's completily other character, i want to play a duskblade xP

I meant on one side. Ur-Priest/Warlock//Duskblade. In that case, find out how ur-priest interacts with gestalt. Use warlock for all day buffs and ur-priest for occasional DMM and channeling ultra beatdown spells, for example: harm.

You'd have to invest some in wisdom, but other than buying a peripat or whatever, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Forget about charisma unless you were planning on that in the first place.

You have to be evil though. And in that case, I'd recommend taking the half-dragon hit on your duskblade side so you can get into ur-priest faster.

Just my suggestion though.

Would it actually slow him down, though? He still has HD at every level, from the other side. You use the entire character to qualify for stuff, not just one side.

You´re welcome.

I kinda just finishing brainstorming this so it might, surely need a fixes.

Your stats as half-dragon where:

Str: 26 (+8 racial)
Dex: 8
CON:18 (+2 racial)
INT: 18 (+2 racial)
Wis: 10
Cha: 8 (+2 racial)

Wich means a basic array of 18;16;16;10;8;6 to work with. to that we add the bounuses from Ogre Magi. My suggestion would be go the gish way and add half-dragon(gold) for fire inmunity and extra badassness looking.

STR: 34 (16+10+8)
DEX: 16 (16 plain)
CON: 18 (10+6+2)
INT: 14 (8+4+2)
WIS: 10 (6+4+0)
CHA: 30 (18+6+2+4 from levels)

Half-Dragon(Gold)3/ Ogre Magi 12/ Monk 2// Paladin 4/ Sorcerer 2/ Abjurant Champion 5/ Eldritch Knight 6

Efective Sorcerer Level: 12
BAB 16
Only vulnerable to acid.

Saves*
Fort: 31 (17+4+10)
Refl: 19 (6+3+10)
Will: 22 (12+0+10)
*without items

Feats:
1.- Power Attack
3.- Comabt Reflexes
6.- Combat Casting
9.- Practiced Spelcaster
12.- Sacred Shield
15.- Robilar Gambit
16.- Imp. Grapple (Monk)
17.- Deflect Arrows (Monk)
18.- Ascetic Mage

I have a little problem alocating the monk bonus feats since you can only qualify for ascetic mage at level 18 leaving Robilar´s Gambit for 15 level forcing to take Combat Reflexes prior monk levels.

Wing of Cover and Celerity should keep you alive in most situations, while you can enjoy buffing your self and your party. Battle field control in the first round is vital. Trade your familiar for the Rapid Metamagic Variant of the PHII so you can use Rods of Metamagic.

You will have a pretty good AC from you Abjurant Champion levels in conjunction with Sacred Shield.

AC 52 (10 base -1 Size +3 Dex +9 Natural +11 Greater Mage Armor +19 Shield with Sacred Shield)

With magic items this should be:

AC 68 (10 base -1 Size +6 Dex +14 Natural +5 deflection +11 Greater Mage Armor +22 Shield with Sacred Shield)

Amulets of NA, Rings Of Deflection and stats enhancements.

At 18th level, with Ascetic Mage, you can add 14 more, adding a total of 92. After achiving that you can choose Mc Hammer´s You can´t Touch This as your personal theme.

Humbly your´s

10 base

+7 Dex
+11 Natural
+5 deflection ????(+5 Ring of Protection?)
+11 Greater Mage Armor
+26 (+9 Shield +17 Sacred Shield) ????? this conflicts with Monk bonuses... cant have Both at the same time...
+18 monk ????? ... this conflicts with Shield Bonuses... can have both at the same time...
+2 insight ????? how are you getting this

notice:
AC Bonus (Ex): When unarmored and unencumbered, the monk adds her Wisdom bonus (if any) to her AC. In addition, a monk gains a +1 bonus to AC at 5th level. This bonus increases by 1 for every five monk levels thereafter (+2 at 10th, +3 at 15th, and +4 at 20th level).

These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the monk is flat-footed. She loses these bonuses when she is immobilized or helpless, when she wears any armor, when she carries a shield, or when she carries a medium or heavy load.

You´re right about the Mindbender, my bad. However, it was only a bip for a +2 to will so it really wasn´t important.

About the AC, the insight bonus is from an Ioun Stone as stated above, I shuold have make it more spotable.

AC with items (ioun stone, ring, amulet and ability enhancer)

The shield bonus is from the shield spell adding +9 because of the Abjurant Champion Class Feat. The Divine Shield adds your Charisma bonus to your shield bonus. The character isn´t carrying a shield more than he wearing a Greater Mage Armor

Would it actually slow him down, though? He still has HD at every level, from the other side. You use the entire character to qualify for stuff, not just one side.

I thought warlock, bard and planar sorcerer had all the skills for ur-priest as class skills? Only reason I recommended that. It's been a while since I've done this, so I could be wrong.

I just wanted to chime in with a trick I used on my last character who was a Gestalt Duskblade. I prefer this build

Duskblade13/Abjurant Champion2

Sorcerer-15 (I tossed War Weaver in here as well, so that I would be party support)

Feats Arcane Disciple, Destruction Domain- Take Harm as an arcane spell

Touch attack 150 dmg. a hit and specialize as a two weapon fighter.

Wraithstrike so all multiple attacks are touch attacks and deal over a thousand of dmg. a round. Disentigrate is also good for fighting Undead and what not.

The Sorcerer also gives you acess to lots of good abjuration buffs and dispels.

Too bad you can't use XPH.
Psychic Weapon + Blade of Blood plainly demolishes low level threats.
