| #1Melil16Feb 15, 2009 10:53:11 | Ok so i made a duskblade and i have a few questions: One do i need Somatic Weaponry?? i mean i cast spells through my sword. Feat wise i think i am going with Power Attack and Weapon Prof Bastard sword at lvl 1. Is Bastard Sword really worth it? I plan on switching b/w 2 handed and sword and board as i desire. From there i was thinking Weapon Focus (touch spell) ... and Touch Spell Specialization at following lvls. But no Hand book ever even talks about them ... do they give a bonus for channeling attacks? or is it only if i cast it as the spell? I think the Damage Probably maybe not the tohit. Some where around 12 i think i will grab Arcane Strike ... i should start needing it by then. And i am not so thrilled about turning useful spell slots into it. But it would be useful for Monsters that Resist one of the 2 elements you actually can use. After that i dont know what my last 2 feats should be .... i have Improved Sunder and Combat Brute to help with Power attacking. I dont think i will go leap attack but its not completely written out. If the 2 touch spell feats dont work out then i guess move Arcane Strike to 9 and add in Leap attack at 6. But that just leaves me with more options. The hand books say Familiars and such ... but i dont think i would want one. |

I wouldn't bother going with sword and board, either get an animated shield or a buckler if you really want the AC, more damage is better than a slight increase to AC. Your feat choices .... aren't that great. Power attack and arcane strike are a good start. Knowledge devotion is pretty much a no brainer too since you have all knowledge skills as class skills and int as your casting stat. Obtain familiar is another good one and maybe improved familiar. |

The benefits are only "OK" ... being able to cast touch spells through them is their only saving grace. But i will want to do that with my sword rather then a spider, bird, or snake. (Fix) Ok i take back some of what i said about Familiars they are pretty handy ;p I think a Bastard Sword is good at saving money for other things ... get one and i dont need an animated shield i can just take a shield out as part of a move action ;p I wont need Somatic Weaponry b/c i can use my weapon one handed or 2. I dont care much to be another Great Sword Wielding Fighter .... leave that to the Barbarians and Warblades. Although my Barbarians always use Great Axes. |

| #5Melil16Feb 15, 2009 13:12:02 | .... Ty i will look into changing it out. You have any suggestions of other feats besides familiars? Whats your opinion on the Touch spell focus/specialization? +2 damage and +1 to hit with touch spells is pretty decent ... but does it apply to my channeling attacks? Touch spell Specialization is in Complete Arcana |
| #6ninjarabbitFeb 15, 2009 14:27:06 | Not a fan of the focus/specialization feats, not enough of a benefit to invest 2 feats into. Some ideas include combat expertise/improved trip, extra spell if your DM interprets it liberally, versitale spellcaster, and either combat brute or shock trooper. Also think about any PrCs you're interested in. Another thing you might want to consider is using a reach weapon, like a glaive or guisarme with armor spikes. It gives you a bigger area that you can threaten. |
