Jun 02, 2009 10:23:36 The Duskling race (Magic of Incarnum) is an interest to one of my players, but I have some concerns- namely that they are considered fey and extraplaner, noting that this makes them immune to spells that target humaniods, such as Charm Person.

My questions are thush- which spells are they immune to? Does this include such buffs as Enlarge Person? Can they be ressurected? Are there any other consequenses to that race that may happer the playing experience?

I would really appreciate the help. Thanks.

Jun 02, 2009 10:33:23 They can be raised from the dead just fine. Only things that don't work on them are things that have a Target: Humanoid in their entry, such as Charm Person, Enlarge Person and Dominate Person (since they are Type: Fey) - just check the spell entry. On the other hand, some spells, such as Jungelrazer, work on them and don't on Humans, for instance. As for the Extraplanar, it means they aren't native to the prime and can be Banished like an Outsider.

Jun 02, 2009 11:14:13 Thanks, I think I was mixing up extraplaner with outsider. Now would it affect alter self as well? and I've never heard of junglerazer.

Jun 02, 2009 11:18:06 Junglerazer (SpC) is simply one spell that specificaly works on Fey, Animals, etc, and not on Humanoids, so it would affect him just fine.

As for Alter Self, that would work, but he'd have to pick forms that are Fey in type, instead of Humanoid.

And yes, it does affect alter self. I'm not sure if there's anything more broken in the fey list under 5HD than there is in the humanoid list, but Dusklings Alter Self into Fey creatures, not humanoid ones.

Pixies are pretty awesome, even if you only get the small size and flight. If you can take Assume Supernatural Ability or Metamorphic Transfer, they are insanely awesome. :P

Satyrs look decent, also. +4 racial bonuses on Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Perform, and Spot checks, and Alertness as a racial bonus feat, as well as a headbutt attack and move speed of 40.
