#1 mahatma87 Feb 22, 2009 15:47:45	I've recently started a campaign playing a Dwarf Cleric 2 and in the 6 sessions we've played I've renounced Moradin after having my mule mutilated and losing all my forge equipment to terrible luck. I now have no cleric abilities or spells or anything of that nature. I wasn't a very good cleric anyway and now I'm looking for an out into another class. The DM has given me an easy way to atone for free but I don't want to take it as I find the cleric class uninspiring, and I dislike Warhammers quite intensely, yet it's the favoured weapon of Moradin and I've have to use a warhammer to get the most from Battlesmith and Ordained Champion levels. I could suicide my character but it's a bit beardy and I previously said I wouldn't do that, so I have to stick with what I've got. Oh, and my rolled stats are really good: STR 16 DEX 10 CON 16 INT 14 WIS 18 CHA 9 What can I do with this? I'd like to play a monk wielding a Dwarven Warpike, but the flurry of blows doesn't apply to Warpikes afaik. The best I've come up with is this: Retrain the two cleric levels to ranger levels. Meet requirements of the Deepwarden (Endurance, Heal 5, Climb 5, K(Dungeonerring) 5, Jump 5, Survival 5 and Endurance. The reason for this is to get the Stonewarden ability which uses my CON instead of DEX for AC, as my DEX is 10 and CON is 16 atm. Get EWP warpike Then go into Monk. My Wisdom is good so I can use that to boost AC, pick up a monks belt, use the Warpike to make trip attacks and maybe get Power attack on top of this aswell. As for character background, Thor isn't too impressed with conventional religion in D&D land and having seen all his possessions looted and mule mutilated, has decided to leave the cleric business behind and perfect himself with the ways of the monk. And other ideas for tripping with a warpike appreciated.
#2 the_shaman Feb 22, 2009 16:11:28	I believe the stonewarden AC bonus only worked in light armor. However, I could see you simply taking a few swordsage levels (wis to AC in light armor) and go heavy down the Stone Dragon discipline, with a smattering of others. You may actually want to take a look at the Ruby Knight Vindicator - maybe adapt it to Moradin if you are going back into religion. I would suggest swordsage or incarnate (with the dwarven PrC): both can be interesting in combat, and benefit from having good wisdom and constitution. Monk... Meh. Even if you use Shou Disciple to flurry with your warhammer (and for a good attack/bonus feats etc) it's still not good enough imo. Actually, if your DM doesn't throw a fit when someone mentions psionics, the Psychic Warrior isn't half bad.
#3 Balthanon Feb 22, 2009 18:12:33	If you're keeping the same stats and can retrain the levels, I would second Swordsage. At second level you'll pick up Wisdom to AC in light armor, which can be quite decent when you're using chain shirt and dastana. Maneuvers typically beat out flurry, and you can grab the Setting Sun feats, which utilize the trip mechanics with far more spectacular results. If you're set on Warpike, the only real negative is that it isn't a weapon in any of the schools, so your weapon focus is going to go to waste (though White Raven has the halberd, which is similar). Actually, doing something like Swordsage 7/Deepwarden 2 should make your AC equal to 10 + 4 (chain shirt) + 1 (dastana) + 3 (Con) + 4 (Wis) and then any magical bonuses that you pick up, which could be quite decent, though it does require cross classing Knowledge (dungeoneering) and Survival (and using a standard feat on Endurance). Later on, you can pick up Fighter 2 for some feats, like Combat Expertise and Improved Trip, and to push your final BAB up to 16.
#4 erhnamdj Feb 23, 2009 3:51:04	Perhaps switch to no longer worshipping a deity, but an ideal. The Luck domain may fit his needs. :D One more level and you'll have the boundless power that is second-level spells. I think you'd be happy with the result. There's nothing more powerful than a full caster.
