| #1rmaalmeidaApr 16, 2008 11:45:58 | Hi everyone. This is my first post here, so if I make some mess just say! :D I'll start a new campain and our DM let us beggin in the 3rd level, 2700gp. Almost any books. Oh, the stats are reeeeealy high. i've got 96 to spare 1:1. (better than my last 67 rougue with 8 Con, yes, i was a complete newbie hehe) My first idea (and main objetive to say) is to make an dwaf Paladin Hammer of Moradin. I like the way it sounds. So first idea Pal8/Hm2 (i'm thinking only 10 lvls, as i think this campaing wont go much far). Thanks for the excelent guides here (HoM: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=607258 and Pal: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=858849) i got some ideas and this char is a little variation from Pal3/Fgt2/PiT3. Stats (Golden dwarf (RoF) +2 con -2 dex) Str 18 Dex 12 Con 20 Int 14 Wis 14 Cha 18 1st Pal - Weapon focus (warhammer) 2nd Pal 3rd Pal - True Beliver (the game starts here) 4th Pal 5th Fgh - Power attack Bonus feat 6th PiT - Iron Will 7th PiT 8th PiT 9th HoM - Divine might 10th HoM With skills spent on Know(Religion), Craft(Weapon), Diplomacy and Sense Motive. With the initial money I bought an Calling full plate (no need to don), yeah, i know that it must be a +1 magic before being imbued with calling, but DM allowed (good DM hehe) one tower shield (-2 attack until fighter) and one warhammer (Unbelivable! hehe) I'd like to wear a full plate and tower giving 23 armor to lvl3. About the feats, power attack is exclusive to get access to divine might. maybe going figher first and then the 4 levels of pal would get a better history: a figther pursuing the gods will become a valored paladin, then coming in deeper contact with god's knowledge aquire new powers (pious templar) and then looking forward to become the best's Moradin fighter enter in the HoM. As I said i'd like to begin with pal3 (or fgt1/pal2) and go in the direction of hammers of moradin. What you think? Open to any comments! |

In it are some pretty neato things, including Dwarf Cleric Racial Sub levels which give you bonuses to damage with Warhammers. Also, the Battlesmith PrC has nice elements of crafting your own stuff (very dwarfish) and then beating people with them (also very dwarflike). I don't know much about hammer of Moradin, but it sounds like fun. Make sure you at least get to 4 levels in paladin OR 1 level of cleric. This nets you the Turn Undead class feature. Now, since you are already planning on taking Power Attack, you qualify for Divine Might, which allows you to spend a turn attempt to add your Cha modifier to all damage rolls in a round. That's pretty strong, especially since you are running a number of other features off your cha from paladin. I'd probably avoid PT unless you plan on taking large amounts of it for the spell casting and other features. Something to consider would be like: Pal4/Ftr2/Deepwarden2/HoM2 or Cler4(sub)/Ftr2/Battlesmith4 Might be intersting either way. One is more casty, the other is more tanky. |

I started to run on the varrying materials for this combo but then I noticed you had forgotten a big an important piece of your post: What are you aiming at? I like the way it sounds. If that is your answer, then by all means go ahead and jump into this flavorfull PrC up until the 10th level. If you get the kicks from something else, say, being able to throw returning hammers at drows to greater affect then I could suggest other ways, ranger in this case. It's all depends on your goal. | #4reisApr 16, 2008 17:10:25 | make sure to take the brutal throw and power throw feats so you can apply your strength to damage and attack with thrown hammers and use power attack on them don't take true believer, relics are bad |
| #5WyvernhandApr 16, 2008 17:27:29 | He had True Believer there as a prereq for Pious Templar. Due to that, its not a bad feat as long as you invest about 4 levels in PT to get the bonus feat to recoup the feat spent on TB. This is actually kind of an advantage, since taking feats later is generally more beneficial, because then you meet more prereqs such as BAB etc. |
| #6rmaalmeidaApr 19, 2008 14:06:01 | Hi all! i'd like to make an tought paladin looking forward to became hammer of moradin. I've some doubts about the feats and how many levels should i take on each of the classes for exemple: should I take 3 4 or 5 lvls in paladin? Does the mount worth take the 5lvl of paladin? The campain will be from lvl 3 to 11 more or less. Thanks all! |
