| #1warbat_dupMay 16, 2008 19:09:27 | So... We totally conned our DM into letting us go gestalt in his E6 game! Looks like the puppy dog eyes paid off! :D This ought to bring a new level of broken to the game. Unfortunately, he announced a limitation on artificers so that they can't use their abilities to emulate spells higher than 3rd level. :rolleye2: I still may go artificer, but with the addition to gestalt to the game I'm wondering if there might not be another, better, more... optimized... option! :D What do you all think? My gut tells me to gestalt spellcaster or artificer with something that has good Fort and Ref saves (Ranger? They don't seem too bad in E6), but I'm not sure if that's the best choice. Ideas? He's made a couple of statements about "opening the game up to more books" since we're going E6, so I can probably nail him on at least one or two. :D |
| #2ninjarabbitMay 16, 2008 19:50:52 | I like duskblade6//wizard5/spellsword1 with the power attack, knowledge devotion, and arcane strike feats, maybe a focused specialist for more spell slots to feed to arcane strike |

Our DM has gone and whipped out the nerf bat (I suspect he reads this forum or something) and "creatively interpreted" the gestalt rules so that you can't take more than one non-core or PrC at the same time. So most of your build here would work but I couldn't take both duskblade and spellsword in the same level. ![]() Would it be better to drop one level of duskblade or the spellsword level, and what to replace them with? Looks like it would have to be core and non-PrC according to our DMs lame restrictions. :rolleye2: |
| #4ninjarabbitMay 17, 2008 14:48:04 | Then go duskblade6/wizard6 I guess and use mage armor for your armor bonus. |
| #5amadithegreatMay 17, 2008 16:23:39 | Monster classes from savage species break gestalt in half, always. I mean.. Rakshasa gains sorcerer casting at level 2 equal to it's HD, all the levels without HD gain can be forfeited by getting them on the other side. Win? |
| #6phoenix00May 17, 2008 22:14:03 | books allowed? I got a mean dragon build if you give me a second and have the right books. |
| #7sodaguyMay 17, 2008 23:15:30 | I like Paladins in e6. With a high charisma and some focus, lay on hands can full heal any party member. And the divine spirit ACF in CC heals double that. It takes charisma so it's probably not good for melee characters for MAD reasons, but cleric on the other side with DMM and divine feats seems about right. Y'know, isn't there a feat that keys all paladin stuff off wisdom? That'd be perfect. I like e6 because of characters like this. In an e6 world a paladin6//cleric6 with a pile of bonus feats would be a classic image of THE paladin. THE holy warrior. |
| #8erhnamdjMay 18, 2008 0:21:36 | Ooh, I love rangers in E6. You could go with the mystic ranger from dragon magazine. That gets third level spells. With the sword of the arcane order feat, that would get you third level wizard spells. You could go artificer on the other side to have everything you'd ever need. Or, you could do something like: 1 barbarian (lion totem, whirling frenzy) 2 ranger 3 ranger 4 scout 5 scout 6 scout With wizard5/ mindbender1 on the other side. Make sure to grab extra rage and swift hunter. |
| #9ravenshrikeMay 18, 2008 14:46:58 | Druid//SS works really well. Especially if you go shifter beast spirit variant druid. Really, really well. Especially if you take unarmed variant SS as well. |
| #10mflabiasMay 18, 2008 16:51:44 | Rogue/Scout ranged character. |
