I am building a character who Im taking all the way to level 10 in frostmage. The level 10 ability gives you cold immunity but fire vunerability, so I am loking for a way to get fire immunity without wasting a level on it or anything like that. I prefer if it is an item that it is not too expensive. Feats are fine, but I don't want to have to take a whole feat chain to get the immunity.

You could cast energy immunity (cleric 6, druid 6, sorcerer/wizard 7); it lasts 24 hours.

That should work quite nicely, especially since I can cast the spell 1-2 levels earlier than the 10th level ability, plus I can permanency it. (I can do that, can't I?)

Now on to another problem, how do I get around cold resistance or immunity? I know about energy subs, but perhaphs there is another way?

I think that there's a meta magic feat in Frostburn that lets half of your spell damage go through cold resistance/immunities, but I'm away from my books right now...

As an alternative method for fire immunity the spell mantle of the fiery spirit pemenantly gives you the fire subtype.

Instantly (not permanantly), which is better because then it can't be dispelled.
