Right, for Cyrocloud's 27 Nations game I'm planning on submitting a Swiftblade character, and just wanted to run the skeleton I've got so far past the boards for some scrutiny.

Is that caster as 16? Man. If only you could swap Sacred Exorcist for Cloistered Cleric. Rough.

Yup, finishes up casting 8th level spells and just scrapes BAB 16. Losing another CL would really hurt, and the domains/devotion feats don't quite cut it as a trade imo.

No, they don't equate to loosing 8th level spells. Harsh.

Okay, so there's likely an artificer in the party so I'm pretty sure I can get hold of a custom Runestaff. Namely, "Runestaff of the Elemental Heart" (Heart of Air, Earth, Fire and Water), which I'll be using for pre-buffing. At a higher level I'll likely be looking to get Elemental Body added onto it as well for that tasty fly 100 (perfect) and crit-immunity.

That frees up a few spells known, so right now I'm looking at:

Spells Known
1: Benign Transposition, Mage Armour, Nerveskitter, Shield, Wings of Swift Flying
2: Create Magic Tattoo, Heroics, Wings of Cover, Wraithstrike +1
3: Haste, Heroism, +2
4: Overland Flight, Ruin Delver’s Fortune, Thunderlance
5: Arcane Fusion, Bite of the Wereboar

With a morning buff routine of: Extended Create Magic Tattoo (alternate between +2 competence to attacks and +1 CL), all 4 Heart spells, Overland Flight and Wings of Swift Flying.

Which leaves me one 2nd level spell and two 3rd level spells to choose, and I'm stumped. I've got loads of possibilities, e.g.:

2nd
- Electric Vengeance
- False Life
- Invisibility
- Mirror Image
- See Invisibility
3rd
- Battlemagic Perception
- Dimension Step
- Dispel Magic
- Evard’s Menacing Tentacles
- Girallon’s Blessing (if can be used for x2.5 Str to damage?)
- Greater Magic Weapon
- Karmic Backlash
- Mass Snake’s Swiftness
- Nondetection
- Repelling Shield
- Vampiric Touch

I could use some help narrowing it down a little

Also, got a preliminary equipment list:

Face -
Head -
Throat Devoted Spirit Amulet (Iron Guard's Glare) & Con +2 7000 DMG + ToB
Shoulders Scry Shroud & Cloak of Charisma +6 40000 MIC
Body -
Torso -
Hands -
Arms Bracers of Armour +1 of Mobility and of the Serpent 14500 MIC
Lesser Crystal of Lifekeeping 1000 MIC
Waist Monk's Belt 13000 DMG
Ring 1 Ring of Counterspells 4000 DMG
Ring 2 -
Feet -
Heward’s Handy Haversack 2000 DMG
Heward’s Fortifying Bedroll 3000 CM
Lesser Rod of Extend Spell 3000 DMG
Runestaff of the Elemental Heart 15800 MIC
2 x Wand of Magic Missile (50) 1500
Wand of Cure Light Wounds (50) – for UMDing 750
Memento Magica:
- 4 x Level 1 6000
- 2 x Level 2 12000

Magical Locations:
Athenaeum of Boccob 2000 CC
Metamagic Storm (Extend Spell) 5000 CM
Rainbow Falls 2000 CM

Forget Abjurant Champion. Use 4 levels of sacred exorcist.

Are you going to continue play after 20th? If so, then we can recover from this tragedy.

You think? Why?

The +3 Shield AC alone strikes me as far better than the other SE class abilities.

Not sure. I believe the vague plan is epic, but given pbp pacing I'm optimizing for the starting level and I'll cross that bridge when I come to it (likely via Otyugh Hole entry to Incantatrix for Persist cheese and casting advancement).

Because combat casting blows.

Well yeah, but there's not many amazing feats I qualify for at 3rd level so it seems a small price to pay. What exactly would you replace it with?

1) Dodge, Mobility, Practiced Spellcaster
3) Power Attack
6) Arcane Strike
9) Combat Reflexes
12) Extend Spell
15) Robilar's Gambit
18) Rapid Metamagic (get quicken via location)

A wizard base is loads stronger, but w/e. You can do without leap attack.

I don't have Leap Attack at all as it stands. And I don't qualify for Arcane Strike till 9th, so that swaps with Combat Reflexes.

Then I'm getting Mobility and Combat Reflexes with items, and effectively trading them in for IUS and Ascetic Mage at 1st and 6th, with Combat Casting retrained in at 3rd (since Bite of the Weretiger/bear grants Power Attack anyway).

I could maybe drop AbjCha, IUS + Ascetic and thereby wind up with 3 free feats at 1st/3rd/6th, but I'm still struggling to think of better choices that a low level Sorcerer qualifies for.

Re Quicken: I've got loads of immediate/swift options as it is (Haste, Divine Companion, Wraithstrike, Wings of Cover, RDF, expending Heart spells), I'm not even sure I can find time for all of those let alone more quickened spells. Plus by the time I'd get Quicken I'll have Perpetual Options and Time Stop, so standard action casting of buff spells really is no problem for me. Although I wouldn't mind Rapid for use with Extend, and I could still grab Elusive Target with Heroics I suppose...

Instead of swapping AC out for more Exorcist, I think you qualify for Enlightened Fist. Three levels of that'll do you good.

Interesting idea. But...

- I'd need Combat Casting and Stunning Fist to get in, and if I'm taking Combat Casting then I'll stick with AbjCha.
- It'd lose another BAB and CL
- I'm not making use of the unarmed advancement so that's irrelevant
- Arcane Fist would require me to use fists instead of my Thunderlance, plus I don't really have room for all that many touch spells on my known list.

So, thanks but no thanks.

I say you should stick to Abjurant Champion. Too bad you can't finish it before epic levels.

It's always struck me as funny that the initials for Abjurant Champion are "AC" when that's exactly why most people take the class over other full caster, full BAB classes.
