My question is this, at 13 hit die what is/are the most efficient creatures to make into effigies for pure asskicking/spying/what-have-you potential? Basically I'm looking for the top ten creatures to build into effigies, for whatever reason. So far the best I can see is a Firbolg from MMII. He's a CR 12 with ridiculous str, can wield weapons and doesn't lose much in the transition to effigy. Does anyone else have some ideas? |

| #5verdra001Mar 27, 2008 21:13:24 | remember the effigies loses all (EX) special quailities like regen but not (EX) special attack like constrict or swallow whole but not con based one like a chuul's paralytic tentacles the best form i have found is the Rukanyr in fiend folio 6 claws (d6) 3 bites (d8) 1 slam (3d6) plus a stunning strike dc18 fort or stunned for d4 rounds it's nice oh and its only 7HD but can be scaled all the way to, well, it list 29+ for advancement so no cap |

Are you familiar with all of the item cost reducing feats? (Extroadinary Artisan, Legendary Artisan, and Magical Artisan) There's also the Exceptional Artisan feat (-25% time). The XP cost could be shared by other characters: Magic Items: Transferring XP Costs For construct boosts, I highly recommend Dragon magazine #327. Page 73 has some neat extra abilities that can be built into your constructs. Rudimentary Intelligence gives your constructs an Intelligence score, and they gain feats and skill points as a result. Extra Arms gives your constructs 2 additional slam attacks as part of its full attack. |
