Hi all. I'm pretty new to the CO forums, but I would like to ask for some help. What I'm looking for is help building a creature that will be a challenge for my players once they reach it (around lvl 20). I would use a normal Elder Evil, but my players get +5 LA free, gestalt, will have at least Demigod status (using the Immortal's Handbook: Ascension rules for deities), and will earn the Paragon template over time. This was meant to be a high powered game, and it is turning out to be fun.
Backstory:
The backstory is that the campaign world was invaded by demons and devils a while ago, and the chars are in a group dedicated to taking the world back. Their group found parchment hinting at something called an Ancient, a being so powerful that it could single handedly take out many armies at once. The PCs are about to unleash this being, not knowing that it is completely evil. This being will put them to 'sleep' for a few years to cement it's rule, but the PCs will need to kill it to finish this section of the campaign.

I'd suggest looking around in the Dicefreaks material. Their power level is substantially above what most people consider "normal" D&D... even normal Epic D&D.

That looks pretty cool, but there was nothing there that really caught my eye. It sure did help me design this monster though. Here's what I have right now. Can anyone help me add some abilities and some good feats for him?

The Ancient
The Ancient, The All-Destroyer, He Who Consumes, The Sleeping One, God-Bane. This entity is a truly ancient being, originating from before the world was as it is now. It is one of the last remaining Primevals, extremely powerful beings who ruled the cosmos when it began. The Primevals were cruel, heartless rulers, despised by those who they ruled. In time, a group of their servants, more powerful than any who had come before, attacked their rulers in secrecy, and banished or destroyed all of the Primevals. These servants are now known as deities. When they overthrew the Primevals, they created what we see today. The All-Destroyer was an extremely powerful Primeval, and could only be sealed by the gods, and he was split into body and soul. His body is buried in an ancient vault, deep in the desert mountains. His soul is in the form of a giant key needed to unlock this vault. When the gods sealed the All-Destroyer away, they imbued part of their power into the key, setting it to imbue those who use it with divine power, equal to that of a demigod, as the gods had foreseen that those who would open the vault had no idea what they were unleashing.

The Ancient is an extremely powerful and all-destructive force. It has many titles in many belief systems, but it has no real name (or if it does, no one remembers it). It was sealed and broken long ago by the gods, but now it is free.

Anti-Divinity (Ex): The Ancient is an ancient, perverse form of a deity. It kept it’s servants under control by suppressing their power. This ability removes any divine bonuses on creatures within 100ft of itself and The Ancient takes only ½ damage from divine abilities (not divine spellcasting).

Wave of Destruction (Ex): The Ancient can release a burst of its power to create a shockwave of pure destructive energy, which deals 15d6 damage (DC 30 Ref save for ½) and bypasses all immunities and reductions. This requires a standard action.

Unleash Potential (Ex)
: The current form of The Ancient is his limited form. The Ancient can release his limits as a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity. The Ancient leaves this as a last-ditch ability because once he releases, he can never go back to his normal form and would be targeted by all the remaining deities. In this form, The Ancient shrinks to Large size, adding +3 to his AC. He grows a skeletal mask over his face and armor of bone over his body, granting him an additional +10 natural armor bonus to AC. His Blade of Destruction dissipates, and he gains a special set of swords called Alpha and Omega. His speed increases to 100ft, he is constantly affected as if by a haste spell and a blur spell, he gains additional spell like abilities, and all of his ability scores increase by 10.

Aura of Destruction (Ex): A crackling aura of energy surrounds the creature to a radius of 30 ft., reducing anything within it to dust. A creature or object entering the aura is immediately subjected to a disintegrate effect (Fort DC 31), though this effect is not magical and is not subject to spell resistance. Each round thereafter the creature or object continues to be affected and must make a new save every round. Even if a creature or object succeeds at this save, it must save again in subsequent rounds if it remains within the aura.

Gravity Field (Ex): The space around the creature is severely distorted out to a radius of 150 ft. All creatures within this area have their movement speeds reduced to 10 ft. (Freedom of movement does not prevent this effect). Creatures and objects entering or remaining in the field take 10d6 points of damage which ignores DR and hardness, and are dragged 10 ft. towards the originating creature each round. A creature within the field can hurl itself towards the originating creature as a full-round action, reaching it in 1 round regardless of how far away it was when it started. Casting a spell with somatic components within the field incurs a 50% chance of spell failure.

Spell-Like Abilities: CL 30, DC 16 + spell level
At will – Earthquake, Meteor Swarm, Implosion, Storm of Vengeance, Word of Chaos, Blasphemy, Disintegrate,
Unleashed Potential – At will – Inconstant Location

Possessions: The Ancient is an extremely powerful being who owns some of the most powerful items in the cosmos. He wields the Blade of Destruction, a +6 Colossal Keen Vicious Vampiric Fullblade of Speed. This sword steals the souls of any it kills, preventing resurrection by any means until the gem at the end of the sword is destroyed. His armor, named the Runes of Oblivion, is made up of runes which cover his body and function as a +4 Medium Fortification Full Plate with no maximum Dexterity and no armor check penalty. This armor, as it is a part of The Ancient’s being, cannot be sundered, but it can be suppressed with a dispel attempt (CL treated as 20). When The Ancient uses Unleash Potential, he loses the Blade of Destruction and his Runes of Oblivion. In return, he gains Alpha, a +6 Colossal Keen Brilliant Energy Vampiric Bastard Sword of Speed and Omega, a +6 Colossal Keen Brilliant Energy Wounding Bastard Sword of Speed. The Speed enchantment on these weapons stacks with The Ancient’s constant haste and the brilliant energy enchantments affect non-living creatures as well and ignore their natural armor bonus to AC. His new armor, The Armor of The Apocalypse, acts as a +6 Heavy Fortification Full Plate and grants The Ancient Regeneration 5 bypassed by Fire and Acid damage and +10 natural armor.

Whatcha think?

Uhh... so it can't fly? It's like a Tarrasque with a few tricks that mostly don't matter...

What exactly does it use Time Stop for, other than running away? It has no spells or self-buffs of any kind (except Unleased Potential), and you can't affect other creatures while in a Time Stop.

Also, anyone actually fighting this thing will be unaffected by its Blasphemy and Word of Chaos abilities, and its other SLAs are not that powerful for its CR. What is the range on Wave of Destruction? And it has no regeneration, and no way to heal itself? (Well, I guess it can go chop up some commoners and heal via its sword...)

Defeating this is as simple as luring it into the open, and flying around shooting it with arrows until it dies...

Did you look through the Gates of Hell on Dicefreaks? They have stats for all kinds of insanely powerful devils and other evil beings in there.

...And this is why I post here. Thank you very much for those words. I would not have even thought to put a fly speed (even though one of the chars has a natural fly speed  ). And now......I'M OFF TO EDIT!
So...now it has a fly speed, the ability to effect others in a time stop, and fast healing. Can anyone think of some cool abilities to add? I cannot seem to think of anything that would not be too....apocalypse-y for him.

First, he badly needs SR. He's not even going to faze an Epic party otherwise. Second, his Waves of Destruction ability needs a range. Third, he needs more SLAs. I'd recommend giving him disintegrate at will at the very least. Some form of DR is also a good idea (DR 15/Epic is really common, so maybe crank it up to DR 30/Epic?).

In additon, here's a couple of abilities that are designed to go together for this walking doomsday machine:

Show
Aura of Destruction (Ex): A crackling aura of energy surrounds the creature to a radius of 30 ft., reducing anything within it to dust.

You can tone these up or down depending on what level you want them to face this guy at. The basic idea for these abilities is that they make him an actual threat in melee. Anyone in melee with this guy is taking 10d6 damage automatically, plus either 5d6 or 40d6 more depending on their save.

The other thing to remember is that both these auras affect objects, which includes projectiles, so he's practically immune to ordinary ranged attacks.

Very nice. :D That would make him nasty, especially if you specify that the Disintegrate can destroy Force effects. :P (I think you'd have to say something like "every creature, object, or force effect entering the area").

I like this alot better than the Time Stop. I'd get rid of it entirely and replace it with these.

Thank you all for your input! Those abilities are AWESOME! I love them! Off to edit yet again!
I think I may throw together what one of my current chars would look like at lvl 20 (when they will be fighting this beast) and see how he fares. That might inspire me to add more abilities.
