| #1the-mean-dmMar 27, 2008 19:56:53 | Hello. I have a question, which D&D customer service has been unable to provide an answer to. Here is what has been established. 1) you cannot use the Magic Weapon creation "pricing" to purchase enchantments for your natural weapons -- so no paying 50,000 gp for a +5 Claw 2) using Greater Magic Fang and Permanency doesn't necessarily qualify for "Permanent" enchantment status, because Dispel Magic or Gr. Dispel Magic can end the spell effects (requiring new expenditures, etc). -- so apparently "Permanency" is not really all that Permanent, eh? 3) before adding any additional +1 or higher Kensai Signature Weapon abilities (like Wounding, for example), you must have your Weapon with a permanent +1 enchantment. -- so if you want the +2 Wounding ability, you need to have a minimum +1 Weapon to begin with -- this applies to natural weapons too -- and yes, I fully understand that if you are a level 4 Kensai, you can spend 1 "level" to get a +1, and then get 3x +1 enchantments, or any combination of additional enchantment/abilities (like the +2 wounding, for example) up to a total of +4. Here is the rub of everything, and where I need help figuring some things out. If you can't use Magic Weapon Creation prices, and If you can't consider Amulets of Mighty Fists as permanent, and If you can't use GMF and Permanency....then... How can you get a Permanent +1 Enchantment on Natural Weapons!? Here's an example (close, but not quite the PC in question): Race: Feral Human Class: Fighter 10 / Kensai 2 Weapons: Natural Claws (1d8) How can this character get a +1 enchantment on their claw(s), and then be able to use all their Kensai Signature Weapon "levels" to purchase a +2 equivalent ability (like Wounding/Axiomatic/etc)....? *** My concern is that there really isn't a viable way for any character that fights with natural weapons to get a true +1 (or higher) enchantment on their natural weapons....without the fear of Permanency being dispelled. If there isn't, there should be....because otherwise, you are giving a clear preference to pc's that choose to use manufactured weapons and who can afford to pay "oodles" of gold for whatever they wish. What say you? Is there a way to get a +1 enchantment to a natural weapon, without resorting to using one of your Kensai levels? Thanks for the feedback. |

I mean by using natural weapons you gain some advantages that manufactured weapons don't have like never being unarmed, not able to be sundered or disarmed, always able to use your weapon in a grapple without penalty, etc. |

And it states that 'any natural weapon with an enhancement bonus of +1 or higher counts as a magic weapon for overcoming damage reduction.' Not sure if this works right or not, but its a possible start. |
