| #1detectivejabscoMay 15, 2008 23:29:04 | So i just saw this Here, But the TO boards get like no views compared to the CO boards. So any ways short recap for those of you who don't wanna read the thread. Is there a way to enter the Archmage PrC after being a Focused Specialist wizard and taking a level or more in Red Mage or Incantatrix(sp). Any who, I think that the feat Spell Reprieve from Lost Empires of Fearun (pg.9) will allow this. The problem is its wonky text. Take a look and tell me what you think. Prerequisites: Knowledge (history) 2 ranks, specialist wizard level 1st. But, this is where I'm confused. Special: You can take this feat multiple times, each time choosing a new spell from any of your prohibited schools. Also, if LEoF is not 3.5 please tell me and disregard this in its entirety. Thanks for your time and thought. -Jabsco |

| #3detectivejabscoMay 16, 2008 0:02:04 | I do have access, but i was trying to keep this as useable as can be. I know more DM's that use Fearun then Dragon |
| #4bejikMay 16, 2008 0:19:41 | If I recall correctly you do not lose the ability to cast any spells from the schools you give up for Incantatrix or Red Mage that you already know. So if you time it just right and learn your spells right I think you could make it in, would have to crunch the numbers on it but I feel like it should be possible. I forget is Spell Reprieve the feat that starts the chain that gets you a banned school back? I seem to recall a feat chain for that existing in FR material somewhere. |
| #5detectivejabscoMay 16, 2008 0:29:34 | in order to make it in to the archmage i need level 5 spells from 4 schools this means waiting till level 10 to enter red mage or incatatrix. so thats out. the feat chain is level 1 that one, level 5 any trigger item from any school, and level 10 (again) is the final which lets you renew a school i think or someting, but level 10 is too late to enter incantatrix. so really what i would like to know is weather i could take this feat after level 1 if i have already taken it? it is the wonkyness of the text that is throwing me off. Any rull lawyers handy? Also, the book from FR that these are from is "the lost empires of faerun" |
| #6bejikMay 16, 2008 0:42:45 | 5th level or higher from 5 schools. Also I think based on what I'm seeing you have to either use those feats to regain a lost school, which you could do with one of the ones from your wizard specialization, or be a diviner. A diviner only gives up, in that scenario, 3 schools, which leaves you with 5 left, just enough to qualify. So you have to be a diviner, blow 3-4 feats, or count Universal as a school of magic, but that doesn't make any sense. |
| #7detectivejabscoMay 16, 2008 0:52:43 | hmm, 3 feats but i think human with a flaw or retrained OH or Meta magic storm. hmm, so do you think you can take this feat after level one? |
| #8bejikMay 16, 2008 0:54:54 | Based on the wording of that feat I would say it just requires you to have at least specialist wizard 1st level not "can only taken at character level 1" those are different. |
| #9dwarvenspartenMay 16, 2008 2:59:01 | If you're a Wizard just copy the spells of 5th lvl you need to know into your spell book. Bam,5th lvl spells from 5 different schools are now known to you. The Archmage says absolutely nothing about having to actually cast those spells, just the ability to cast 7th lvl ones. So,there you have it,cheese by RAW. In massive slices. |
| #10cavalry_medicMay 16, 2008 14:17:23 | Simple solution. Heighten spell. "I don't know five spells over 5th level from five schools" (or whatever the requirement is.) "But I do know five spells of 2nd level from five schools. Let's bump 'em up and qualify." |
| #11the_shamanMay 16, 2008 16:14:50 | Prerequisites: Knowledge (history) 2 ranks, specialist wizard Wait, if you use LEoF, why not just take the other 2 feats - the last of which gives you access to the entire school? |
| #12logicninjaMay 16, 2008 16:44:48 | Because you may need those two feats for something else, making it Not Worth It? For example, all I really want Evocation for is Radiant Assault. Likewise, Enchantment without Irresisitble Dance as a factor is a very different thing than Enchantment with. |
