As the thread from which this is taken was published far back in 07 I'm quoting the important parts here. Here is a link to the original thread if you are curious. The question I've been puzzling over is once this character goes epic is there a way to somehow get him epic level spell casting (Since the Chameleon states it cannot use it's spell casting for qualification purposes I am unsure if this is possible at all.). For the purposes of the discussion I'm acting under the assumption the means through which the build achieves its 9th level casting etc are legal. My knowledge of epic level rules/exploits is not very solid so I thank the Char Op forums in advance for their input. For those unfamiliar with the Chamleon prestige class it can be found on the WoTC website here.

A deliberately provocative title However, I think it has some truth to it (without being broken). The emphasis of the build is on generalist choices, spell casting, and skills.

All of the classes are of a profoundly generalist theme (Generic Spellcaster / Expert / Warrior, Factotum, Chameleon), except for Crusader, which does add a lot to the generalist nature of the build. Similarly for most feats, which round out the character, add a lot of intelligence synergy, and help with spellcasting effectiveness. It utilizes one trick to get higher level casting (but not the more uber trick that DisposableHero used to get wish at 6th level).

A Skill monkey Casting Chameleon

Race: Human, Good/Neutral, Old age at 18th level, simultaneously applying +1 inherent to Con.
Build: Generic Expert 1/Generic Spellcaster (Divine) 1/Factotum 3/Chameleon 10/Generic Spellcaster (Arcane) 1/Generic Warrior 2/Crusader 2
Feats: Able Learner, Keen Intellect, Ancestral Relic, Insightful Reflexes, Sanctum Spell, Planar Touchstone (Catalogues of Enlightenment = Planning), Leadership (Fiend of Possession), Academic Priest, Extra Slot, Extra Slot, Extra Slot, Spell Mastery, Uncanny Forethought.
Stats: ~D7.8 HD + CON, 8.7 Maxed Skills. Init: +20. BAB: 13. Saves: F: 30 R: 31 W: 37.
-- Assuming Arcane and Divine Focus chosen, and Demand Fortitude with cohort. This is before most equipment and before magic. 171 HP including Con, 201 Skill points including Int and racial bonus
Attributes , Int = 46!:
Assume a 32 point buy.

Attr. Value (Cost) Age Inherent Equipment Other Total
STR: 9 (1) -3 +6 12
CON: 14 (6) -3 +1 +6 18
DEX: 11 (3) -3 +6 14
INT: 18 (16) +2 +5 +6 +15 46
WIS: 14 (6) +2 +6 22
CHA: 8 (0) +2 +6 16

Int: 18 (attribute) + 2 (age) + 5 (book) + 6 (item) + 5 (levels)
+ 6 (chameleon) +4 (Fiend of Possession) = 461 - Generic Expert 1 Able Learner, Keen Intellect, Academic Priest
2 - Generic Spellcaster (Divine) 1 Insightful Reflexes
3 - Factotum 1 Planar Touchstone - Catalogues of Enlightenment - Planning
4 - Factotum 2
5 - Factotum 3
6 - Chameleon 1 Ancestral Relic
7 - Chameleon 2 Floating Feat (usually set to Carmendine w/ Monk's belt)
8 - Chameleon 3
9 - Chameleon 4 Leadership (Outsider 2 + 2LA/Fiend of Possession 6/Marshall 3/Bloodline 3/Crusader 1 w/ Max interpersonal skills and UMD. Auras = Motivate Dex, Demand Fortitude. Assume Charisma = 32)
10 - Chameleon 5
11 - Chameleon 6
12 - Chameleon 7 Sanctum Spell
13 - Chameleon 8
14 - Chameleon 9
15 - Chameleon 10 Extra Slot
16 – Generic Spellcaster (Arcane) 1 Extra Slot
17 – Generic Fighter 1 Extra Slot
18 – Generic Fighter 2 Spell Mastery, Uncanny Forethought
19 - Crusader 1
20 - Crusader 2

Rules Notes:
Extra Slot – Advances Chameleon casting. Using planar touchstone to qualify for the higher-level slot (Extra Slot: “up to one level lower than the highest level spell you can currently cast”). (Catalogues of Enlightenment: “Once per day you may cast a spell from the cleric domain you had chosen as though you had prepared the spell normally. You must be of sufficient character level to cast the spell and have Wisdom equal to the spell level + 10.”). I first saw this here (http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-680255).
Assumes Generic Spellcaster (Arcane) can qualify for the spell mastery feat.

Key Points:
3 Extra Slots w/ Planar Touchstone and Sanctum Spell => 9th level spells as a Chameleon
46 Int, Academic Priest => lots of bonus spells per day both arcane and divine, amazing Arcane spell DCs
Aura of Perfect Order [Stance]=> Take 11 on any skill check, save, caster level check, etc. It makes him an even more impressive skill monkey, caster, and much tougher. Once/rnd.
Uncanny Forethought => spontaneously cast any spell known at the cost of a move action 18 times per day (~ all 8th and 9th level spells, both arcane and divine).
46 Int, Factotum 3, Keen Intellect => +18 (at least) to all but Charisma skills (which the Fiend of possession focuses on).
Maneuvers (5 maneuvers, 2 stances)

Devoted Spirit: Aura of Perfect Order (6th) - Stance
Devoted Spirit: Defensive Rebuke (3rd) - Boost
Devoted Spirit: Martial Spirit (1st) – Stance
White Raven: Covering Strike(4th) - Boost
White Raven: White Raven Tactics (3rd) - Boost
White Raven: Douse the Flames (1st) - Strike
Stone Dragon: Charging Minotaur (1st) - Strike
Extra Granted maneuver would also be nice. This could happen with a combination of a Martial Study feat generated with the spell Heroics, and/or the Chameleon's floating feat.

You don't qualify for Epic Spellcasting at level 20 since you're not at epic levels. At level 21, you might use your floating feat to nab it ( 1) assuming the build getting 9th level spells is legal and 2) assuming you can take an epic feat in the Chameleon's non-epic slot).

I may have misunderstood your quandary...

You did but I didn't really make it easy to spot in the text. The character would presumably have gone epic level at the time of attempting to acquire epic spellcasting. The quandry is that the 9th level casting is from Chameleon Aptitude casting so we can't use the 9th level casting to qualify for the epic spell casting feat in a straight forward manner. I'm trying to see if there are ways around this rule.

You don't qualify for Epic Spellcasting at level 20 since you're not at epic levels.

Not necessarily true.

For instance, a Venerable Dragonwrought Loredrake Kobold Wizard could take Epic Spellcasting at level 20, using that favoured in guild feat which grants you one bonus rank, for a total of 24. Being a dragon lets you take epic feats, and lvl 9 spells are the final key to being the only sub-epic non pun-pun character who can open Epic whoop-ass.

Just another reason that Kobolds are awesome. ;)

*sigh*
I said "you don't qualify", not "no one can qualify".

@Wings of Peace: Chameleon spellcasting will indeed never let you qualify, but the spell(s) from Catalogues of Enlightenment should - if you can use them for Extra Spell, you can use them for Epic Spellcasting.

Epic Spell feat requires 24 Ranks in two skills, and "That Feat In Cityscape" can only help one skill.

Now, you could Fusion with something high level Divinations help find, that has the required skill ranks.
Ranks. That's the problem. 9s are relatively easy.

iirc - on DH_'s thread, that you mention, Heighten and a lesser version of Miracle at Level 6, gets the Chameleon Arcane and Divine 9s.
Generic Spellcaster isn't supposed to be mixed with regular Base Classes, but a PrC surely will do what you want.
