| #1zarzakMay 17, 2008 21:10:38 | Hey all, I thought that the epic destinies presented here sounded fun, but none of them *quite* fit my ideal arcanist character. So I adopted one to my tastes - what do you guys think? Overpowered? Fine? Underpowered? Demigod destiny: The immortality bit (becoming a minor god) stays the same; who wouldn't want that? The 21st, and 24th level bonuses stay the same. The 27th level bonus (divine surge) is replaced with a custom ability: Spell Access - you can scribe any spell (arcane or divine) into your wizard spellbook and cast them - much like an archivist. Radiant Servant grants a somewhat lesser version of this ... I figured for a 27th level epic feat replacement deal it would be fine. Its not like you have a ton of spell slots to take advantage of it. The 30th level bonus (miracle 1/day) would be replaced with Spontaneous Casting - you cast your wizard spells as a sorcerer does. This means that all of those spells in your spellbook are now up for spontaneous casting ... but they also suffer from increased casting times if using metamagic, as a sorcerer. I think this is a pretty decent level 30 capstone ability (miracle 1/day? WITH an xp cost? We can do miracle 3/day with no XP cost pretty easily, in non-epic levels ...). Thoughts (epic spellcasting would be picked up from bonus feats)? |

| #3zarzakMay 17, 2008 21:38:17 | I really like the respawn destiny. Eternal Hero is pretty cool, but it doesn't measure up to becoming a god in my book. ![]() |
| #4archerpwrMay 17, 2008 21:44:07 | Eternal Hero is pretty cool, but it doesn't measure up to becoming a god in my book. Thematically? I absolutely agree. Godhood is way cooler. Crunch? You retire the PC at 30 for all of them. |
| #5CantripNMay 17, 2008 22:52:47 | I'm itching to try these things in a game, but I find that prospect unlikely... ![]() What I'd really like is to make a Wu Jen/Jade Phoenix Mage, abusing that 9th level spell with Eternal Hero (Non-Epic, perhaps?). |
| #6ChristopherGrovesMay 17, 2008 22:56:21 | Until you see how the spells and spellbooks are run, I'd hold off on making changes. Some may be much stronger or much weaker than you think. |

These rules are for 3.5. They have a similar idea in 4.0 but it is a different ruleset completely. These rules are to get you something similar to 4.0 feel with 3.5 crunch. ---- From a crunch standpoint Artifiact Lord and Eternal Hero are they only two I will take. Eternal Hero is perfect for a Crusader. |

| #9fil_kearneyMay 18, 2008 15:58:34 | id a becoming a sorceror at level 30 just robbed sorceror of being a sorceror. by itself, I like t. I context to the rest of the game, I don't. unless sorceror got a VERY cool destiny in ompariso. |
