Epic Gestalt help.

We are doing a level 23 gestalt campaign, but I am not entirely sure how to effectively play a character with these rules. The DM is accepting 3 groups of 5, all against each other; but it seems with our level it will be hard to find a spot.

So I come to you, oh holy CO boards, to find one of many things.....

1. A melee fighter who competes with casters.
2. A necromancer~esque caster who can deal adequete damage and survive.
3. A combination of #'s 1 and 2

Any and all builds for epic gestalt characters would be greatly appreciated, especially since I am considering taking leadership or undead leadership for extra help.

Also, multi-classing penalties apply, but they don't carry between both sides. for example:

If you had 2 classes on each side of the gestalt, youwould be fine, but if you had taken 23 different classes on one side, you incurr a xp penalty.

Duskblade 13, Fighter-10

Dread Necromancer- 18, Abjurant Champion-5

Its Fun, Its easy and it deals thousands of dmg a round and has massive undead army backup.

Two wpn. Fighter- Full arcane channel of the Harm spell...

Ecclectic learning- Wraith Strike (all those light weapon attacks become touch)

Now you are a full on melle with a ridiculous AC who can raise undead and hit someone with about 8 Harm spells a round with one casting.

Hope it meets your needs.

Arcane channeling (full attack) says “the spell affects each target you hit in melee that round.” If you hit someone 1 or more times in a round, he is a “target you hit in melee that round,” so the spell affects him, but there is nothing in the ability to indicate the spell affects a target multiple times if you hit him multiple times. It's not “each time you hit a target in melee,” or anything like that. This is covered in the FAQ.

Crusader 20//Dread Necromancer 20 is a solid base you can customize.

Crusader 17/Warblade 1/Master of Nine 5 works well on the Crusader side if you don' t mind the hefty Mo9 requirements.

Crusader//Cleric should work well too, more so if you can arrange to take RKV (perhaps by giving it full casting and letting it take both sides of the gestalt).

Arcane Channeling works best with whirlwind attack.

Saefal's build is nice, because if you have whirlwind attack you could us a nonlethal weapon to deliver enchancements to your undead companions and heal them while damaging all of your enemies.

I would also suggest a intermediate Fire Elemental bloodline in place of 2 Fighter levels because you gain 3 Feats (nearly all the prequisites for Whirlwind Attack) andother bonuses while loosing one fighter bonus feat (the BaB is Epic anyways - it isn't fixed to the class anymore).

I also recommend the Dragon Lord prestige class from Dragon magic; If you have many undeads, empower them with draconic auras. You could also take the Draconic Aura feat but you should be of the Dragonblood subtype to gain most of the benifits.

I have come up with a build, The time has come for you, most noble optimizers, to help improve it.

La+1/ Warlock 16/ Hellfire Warlock 3/ Uncanny Trickster 3/

La+2/ Swordsage 2/ Cleric 19

The character is a twice evolved spellstiched necropolitan , meaning he gets several spells as SLA's, the two evolved templates give him +4 cha, +4 ac, +4 str, and fast healing 6. The other LA is for the necropolitan template, which makes you an undead, qualifying you for spellstiched.

You also get level 9 divine spells, dark invocations, wis to Ac, and the Sla's I mentioned earlier. I am planning to make him a glaive lock, and he has the trickster domain for timestop. He also has permanency as a SLA, allowing him to permanency many beneficial spells. (not to mention a 17d6 EB) I am also planning to give him a cohort or two.

Thoughts?

Pick up pounce and use legacy champion if you can.

Pouncelocks in gestalt are ludicrously high damage.

How would use pounce?

Pounce is for melee Attacks only and as far as I know, there is nothing that would allow a Warlock to charge and still get the Eldritch Blast damage...

Your eldritch blast damage is your glaives damage, it always does that much, sort of like weapon damage, except insanely high

You can use things that grant you extra move actions, though, like the Belt of Battle and Chronocharm of the Horizen Walker.

As an undead, can you even use Hellfire Blast? You don't have a Con score...

No, it's not.

"Eldritch Glaive" is an Invocation that can be used as a full action and conjures a glaive out of nothing. As part of this full
action, however, you can make as many attacks as you could when making a full attack. The glaive remains until your next action, so you can use it  for AoOs.

"Hideous Blow" works slightly different: You cast it as a standard action and make one attack at the same time. After this, your weapon returns to normal.

I think a "pouncelock" is a poor choice to do a lot of damage... There clearly are better ways.

I got a bit carried away with ED damage with hellfire warlock and whatnot. So I have made a coarse revised build for your scrutiny.

LA 2/ Warlock 21// LA 1/ Swordsage 12/ Ur-Priest 10

This way I could get Raging mongoose for two extra attacks, Take the Dancing Mongoose feat for a third extra, and use divine power to obtain full BaB, resulting in 7 attacks of 10d6 (14d6 with mortalbane blast and greater chasuble of fel power.)

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I am 99% sure that quicken SLA allows you to get double your iterative attacks, giving you attacks with these bonuses.

+20/+20/+20/+20/+20/+20/+20/+20/+15/+15/+10/+10/+5/+5

And that is plain. And don't forget each attack deals 10d6 (14d6) damage, giving you an overall damage roll of 140d6 (196d6). You can Maximize it for 840 (1176) damage. Keep in mind this is a bare build with character restrictions, if you wanted to play a true glaiver, things get a bit crazy.

A 12th level swordsage has not yet acquired dual boost, so you cannot use both dancing mongoose and raging mongoose without some other way of gaining an extra swift action. Also, eldritch glaive is not stated to be a full attack in its description. It is a spell-like ability that allows multiple attacks in a manner reminiscent of a full attack, but unless it is specifically described as a full attack, it can't benefit from abilities that grant extra attacks on a full attack.

I actually thought one of the two mongoose abilities was a feat. Oh well.  Good idea, bad optimizer.

Actually, I have heard that Eldritch Glaive can only be used with a full attack, so wouldn't that mean the above build is correct?

If you go by RAW, you could only make "as many attacks with your eldritch glaive as your base attack bonus allows"

Furthermore, it is impossible to Quicken Eldritch Glaive, because it says you can take a full-round action to "make a single melee touch attack as if wielding a reach weapon"

This means you never have to cast the Invocation. It automaticly applies whenever you make this full-round melee touch attack. It's not unlike the combat casting feat - it automticly activates itself when you perform a special action.

And additional actions won't help much in this case, unless you could gain another full-round action.

Necropolitan has no LA, it costs your character 3000gp and a level which balances out the advantages of being undead, so that means you still have one level to choose.

Right. I misread that template. Probably another level of swordsage.

Any builds would be appreciated. I am planning on being some kind of gish, preferrably a warlock so It meshes with the SLA's granted when picking feats.

On second thought, maybe a warlock isn't the best choice. Gish Builds with good casting are what I want.
