| #1hyriuNov 10, 2010 11:47:15 | Hello everyone ! This is my first time on this forums and my first attempt at optimizing a PC. I'm currently playing an 18 lvl Duskblade in my friends campaign his setting is Forgotten Realms and will be going to go all the way to lvl 40 or so. His rules are that improve crit and keen stack and if you take a prestige class you need to all the lvls of that class so no 1 lvl dipping. Any book is allowed as well. This is my first time at 3.5 so I just decided to play my PC single class all the way until now. I would like to optimize a bit to be more effective to the group and also to have some more PC development since there is only 2 more lvls of Duskblade left anyways. I would like to choose something that will go with the theme that I've been playing all this time and not just something random just because. My Pc theme is kinda of a mercenary so I've choosen some feats and things base on PC concept but I've been thinking about retraining my two weapon fighting feats if I can turn them to something more usefull. I currently playing as an elf. So anything that goes well with elves are even more apreciated. as for stats this is what I have Str 17/23 with a belt of giant str Dex 20 Con 16 Int 16 Wis 16 Cha 15 My current AC is 33 with a breastplate +3 ring of protection +5 and an amulet of natural AC +5 Feats Combat-Casting, Improved Initiative, Combat-Reflexes, Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Investigator,Improved Critical (All weapons per DM), Armor Proficiency (heavy),Armor Proficiency (light), Armor Proficiency (medium),Shield Proficiency and Exotic Weapon: Katana Spellwise I'm confortable with what I have but if I can expand the list a bit i wouldnt mind. I wanna improve my AC and my ability to hit a bit more and also find a way to increase my dmg a bit in range combat. Any help or imput will be apreciated. Thank you for reading my post |
| #2cole_caecusNov 10, 2010 15:05:38 | Is this character already built as is, or can it be altered? If it can be altered, id do this- Goliath Duskblade lvl1-Weap Prof Spiked chain 3-Combat Expertise 6-Imp Trip (You can put your channeled spell through a trip attack btw) 9-Combat Reflexes 12- 15- After 13 in duskblade i would start taking a prc. Greenstar addept, for this character, is a prett good one, bunch of bonus nat armor, and it will take you the rest of the way to your duskblade lvl 5 spells. Goliaths are in races of stone. they get a +4 str -2Dex +2 con. They have the powerful build ability which makes them count as large when it benifits them. So with that you use a large spiked chain, Reach of 15 ft. Then you drink a potion of enlarge. your now at a 25 ft reach. with a 29 str. then drink a potion of bulls strength. now at a 33 str, with 25 ft reach, and you can make a trip attempt as a attack of oppurtunity, making them fall on their butts. And you can full round attack and make everyone fall down and be channeled. If you get the Whirling (Magic item compendium) magical enhancement put on your weapon, you can make a full round attack at everything within your reach |

This is because after talking with the DM maybe by substituting 2 feats I might be able to qualify to a prestige class if it has too many requirements or something similar. I'm just looking for an equalizer for my PC I'm not looking to be the most powerfull or the Ultimate dmg dealer that's why we have other ppl in the party. I just wanna be able to keep being effective in my support Role that's all. |
| #4The_Crimson_DawnNov 10, 2010 17:22:32 | I do not think there are any prcs worth it to take for only two levels as it will screw your epic progression unless you have an idea of a decent epic prc. |
| #5hyriuNov 10, 2010 17:34:44 | But at the same time I haven't found a single source for a prestige Duskblade. Any Ideas in this are deeply appreciated. |
| #6uchiha_arthasNov 10, 2010 17:53:20 | Hello everyone ! My first suggestion would be to take a look at this site which was useful when I planned my Duskblade: Link Second if you plan on dropping two feats I would take Arcane Strike from Complete Warrior and Power Attack. Seriously Arcane strike is the bomb for Duskblades. Using a two handed weapon with this build (For Power Attack) really pays off so you might want to retrain your exotic weapon training along with your Two weapon fight feats. Take Knowledge Devotion in it's place and put as many skill points in to Knowledge skills as possible (Maybe as an elven mercenary you have studied every creature you ever fought.) Be sure to carefully consider your spell list (use the site I linked for a good recommendation.) I didn't take my Duskblade into Epic levels and there is a decided lack of a good PrC for this class so I can't help you there. |

Find the local high level Wizard or Cleric, to start casting spells on you. Get a Limited Wish. Have that be a Psychic Reformation. See " ... d20srd psychic reformation ... " via google right now. Bingo. Re do things along the lines of the earlier posters. High levels is all about the high level Spells. You want high level spells. Somehow. |
| #8bigtunaNov 23, 2010 13:01:38 | Well once you have lvl 5 spells Dragon disiple gives you a nice boots along with more lvl 5 spells. ekstra str, con and wings is always nice. Warblade 1/JPM X is also a nice class. Also Dragonblood spell pact from Dragons of Farun allows you to get some nice new spells on your spell list (night caress) if you are dragon blooded - but there is a ritual for that... |
| #9Christof_RomulusNov 23, 2010 19:00:52 | Hyriu, The idea that taking a PRC means it's a 100% commitment makes things more difficult. All things considered, epic level duskblade probably isn't a bad idea - especially since you get bonus epic feats (either documented somewhere or you can ask your DM when the class would / should get the feats). If you aren't dual wielding there are some other PRCs out there that might be fun if you're done with your spells (as in you don't seek to get them any better, or additional caster level won't improve them). You never mentioned your race, so I suppose it's human. As crazy as it sounds, one level of monk to add your wisdom to your AC then 10 levels of Duelist might actually be decent. Sure you don't get to wear armor but whenever you fight defensively you add your Duelest level to your armor class, and you add your int (from duelist) and wisdom (from monk) to your armorclass while not using armor or a shield. And as crazy as it sounds, especially to add another PRC from the DMG, Red dragon disciple will give you more stats, spells/day, and Blindsense out to 60 feet. |
