I am trying really hard to keep good records on all of the errata out there but I am finding it rather difficult.

What do you do to make sure your group is using the errata? One person in our group suggested printing out the errata and cutting + taping it into our books to overlay the old text etc.

So what do you do?

Our group has a three punch folder with all the Errata and our home rules printed out inside it. It is every players responsibility (in our game) to be up to date on any errata and table rules. It is MY responsibility to make sure the folder is up to date.

We have a table rule the ingorance of the errata is no excuse, so if a player tries something and the errata contradicts what they try they automatically fail.

Amazing how fast people will learn when it costs them a character.

In the past, I've printed them and kept them in the book itself. This got tricky when the Polymorph errata was issued, though.

This is interesting... Could you call it meta-dnd optimization?

On another note, what is the best way to handle combat when you forget to bring the dry-erase battle mat? Our DM just adjudicated it, and it worked, but I have a feeling it wasn't very accurate. Any other ways?

DM mental pictures work well, as does graph paper, if you don't mind the small scale.

As to errata, we usually just try to remember it, if it's changing something we care about/use frequently. We don't use Polymorph anyway, most of the time, because it's just too much of a headache for DM and player alike.

I mark up the books directly, so whenever I look at them I see the errata in the margin, etc.

Thanks for the different ideas. I will bring them all up at our next gaming session on Sunday and let the group decide which we think would work best.
