First: Spell-to-Power variant is out. I personally refuse to use it. Mantled or Disciplined variants could be taken, but I've decided against them.

Starting level 6, Planar game. Allowed books are a little unclear, but all the Completes are in and the DM has been relatievly lenient so far. There's not too much obscure stuff for psionics though, so I doubt it will matter.

Also- I refuse to use Synchronicity. Powers like that encourage people not to use psionics.

And one final note- I'm not sure how the DM will rule on whether psicrystals gain feats. I'm not going for Blingy, but there is a trick below for psicrystals that gain feats.

Here's my build so far. I haven't asked about Flaws yet.

Sun Elf Erudite 6

Feats:
1- Psicrystal Affinity (b), Extend Power (b), Psicrystal Containment
3- Linked Power
5- Psionic Meditation
6- Craft Dorje

Psicrystal Feats:
1- Transdimensional Power
3- Overchannel
6- Psionic Body

Some things I'm planning to do:
1. Craft Dorje is just for the start of the game. Next level I can Psychic Reform is out for Imprint Powerstone and start the Power Stone Shuffle. This way I can start the game with a Dorje of Energy Missile and a Dorje of Minor Creation.

I'm an elf so- that minor creation can put Black Lotus on my arrows.

2. Use Linked Power- planning on linking Empty Mind and Vigor on round 1. Later on I can Link all kinds of stuff- from buffs to attacks. It seems to me that a linked Deja Vu is not a bad way to spend 2 PP. Particularly after I've just sold an expensive item and received payment for it.

"Here you go, 2150 gold for that magic sword."
"Ahem."
"Here you go, 2150 gold for that magic sword."
(cough cough)
"Here you go, 2150 gold for that magic sword."

3. The reason those feats are in the Psicrystal is that it occurs to me that I'll be able to Feat Leech them out. Link and Extend are in the main build because I'll use them all the time- Transdimensional is in the crystal because it's situational. I certainly am looking forward to my Transdimensional Touchsights though.

I might just get away with attacking from inside a Psychoportive Shelter using Transdimensional Power, too.

Overchannel is there in case I need a beefier Astral Construct. 7 PP is enough for a 4th level Construct, much better than the 3rd level one.

Psionic Body seemed to much to pass up- it's for big battles. Not as efficient as a Share Pain + Vigor, but hey- I'm doing that anyway. This feat is the one I'm least sure about, despite how good it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, I turn to you for tweaks. What did I miss?

Oh yes, power selections:

Powers Known through Level:

1st: 7 Call Item, Crystal Shard, Déjà vu, Empty Mind, Entangling Ectoplasm, Skate, Vigor

2nd: 4 Damp Power, Feat Leech, Psychoportive Shelter, Share Pain

3rd: 4 Dispel Psionics, Energy Wall, Time Hop, Touchsight

for discipline powers…

1st: Astral Construct, Charm (Psionic), Mindlink, Minor Creation

2nd: Animal Affinity, Clairvoyant Sense, Dimension Swap, Energy Missile, Suggestion (Psionic)

...and purchased psion/wilder powers added to the list

1st: Call to Mind, Conceal Thoughts, Empathy, Eidetic Lock, Endure Elements (Psionic), Energy Ray, Inertial Armor, Know Direction and Location, Precognition (Offensive), Telempathic Projection

2nd: Ego Whip, Energy Adaptation (Specificied), Identify (Psionic), Knock (Psionic), Larval Flayers, Levitate (Psionic), Psionic Lock, Sustenance, Tongues (Psionic)

3rd: Darkvision (Psionic), Solicit Psicrystal

Elemental Envoy is better than Psicrystal early on, can be retrained away say level 7.
Might not need Extend feat.
Powerstones are absolutely superior to Dorjes.
Skin of the Construct feat is too versatile to pass up, at level 6.

Because ... your tactic for level 6 is survive. Don't die.
Don't get hit too much. Make sure thre rest of the party knows.
Level 7 you get Psychic Reformation.
You make a powerstone.
You stick it into your Repetoire.
You PsyRef some new stuff.
repeat = profit

While the Elemental Envoy would be a considerable advantage for any 1st level character who had one, I don't see why it's so good for a 6th level one. You aren't the first eminent player to recommend it, but I don't see what the fuss is about. Would you care to explain?

Re: The Powerstone shuffle, it will be online just as soon as I get Reformation. My thinking on that was- I might not get enough crafting time to ever use Craft Dorje again, and for a level 6 character, a Dorje of Energy Missile is a nice way to spend a standard action without using my Power Points too rapidly.

Skin of the Construct I'll need to examine more closely. I hadn't considered that.

Extend is in there for my Psychoportive Shelter and my Share Pain. Perhaps you're right, and it can go.

" ... eminent ... "
Pshaw , you don't mean that , you mean "scruffy" as in my kitty avatar.

Psicrystal is certainly useful, and perhaps superior to EE around level 6.
If you are starting at level 6, I recommend the survival approach for just that level.
But it's just a recommend, not an i-(the great i)-Command; well that happens other times of the day.

Erudite is up against the Unique powers limitation.
Powerstones are just the most obvious way around it.
Linked power is next, but next round. If you need something now, linked doesn't help.
The +1 unique power per day Feat, in dragon # X (idk) ... strikes me as a paranoid pick.
It isn't needed if Linked and Powerstones are well used.
Dorjes are a good idea for regular Psions, that have a specific build wrapped around it.

Hey, so long as you make it to level 7, anything goes after that.

Silly me, I just now noticed that Link Power works around the Unique Powers limitation. I hadn't even chosen it for that!

I chose it for its pseudo-Quicken properties, putting a Vigor on an Empty Mind and a Minor Creation (Black Lotus) on my weapon. I figured, sure it won't get me the power I really want immediately, but it saves the action.

I'd rather use action to Total Defense, link an Empty Mind to a Vigor for 2, and get my focus back than spend the round on a 3 point Vigor.

The Dorje is just for those times when I have a standard action sitting there collecting dust.

But now that I realize Link Power can get me to my uniques without burning my limited uses/day- Tongue out mwahahahahahahaha.

I'm still waiting to see if the DM will allow Transdimensional Power to let me attack from inside a Psychoportive Shelter. I totally can't wait to do that.

RAW, I don't think it works, backwards like that. I'm sure it doesn't, for magic.

Regarding your eminent status.... look, your post count exceeds mine. By 1000. And I wrote a handbook!

Quality vs. Quantity vs. Far Realms ... heh.

TransD from a PsyPort Shelter ... niice. That's a find!
