Evaluate my build, can you make it better?

I've been trying to get a 3.5 game together that I didn't have to DM for the last couple years. Now that I get a chance to play, I was just wondering if a few of you guys would take a peak at my character and try to make it better. I'll warn you in advance, its a gish. I know that there are dozens of pre-existing gish threads out there but I don't need those threads. I just want an evaluation. I figured number cracking a gish wouldn't really be possible in 4th edition for a few years and that I'd better do it soon, this will be his last 3.5 game.

I've played a few games all ready and I'm level 2 but my DM would most likely rebuild if I needed to. I don't think it will be necessary. I'm pretty sure my build is almost pimp as its going to get.

here goes

Human Paragon1/Wizard 1/Human Paragon2/Wizard1/Mindbender1/Knight Phantom2/Abjurant Champion4/Knight Phantom8

A couple things I'm shooting for are the potential for epic levels at 20,tumbling in a mithral breastplate, and Leadership for an item creating cohort. Oh and my DM is letting me use practiced spellcaster to get into mind bender. As a player I'm probably the most tactically sound and I intend to use telepathy to give tactical orders to the party.

Feats
Able Learner (Human)
Militia (1st)
Combat Casting (Flaw)
Practiced Spellcaster: Wizard (Flaw)
Improved Initiative (UA Wizard Variant)
Still Spell (3rd)
Quicken Spell (Paragon)
Leadership (6th)
Improved Toughness (9th)
Mobile Spellcaster (12th)
Arcane Strike (15th)
Power Attack (18th)

Some of these feats I have to take at odd levels. I'm not really satisfied with that. One of the problems I've been having is whether knight phantom is worth it or not. I want Power Attack earlier but I don't want to sacrifice my quickened true strikes or my arcane strikes to get it earlier. I've been thinking about dropping still spell and going for eldritch knight for the extra feats. I just don't have the playing experiance to know whats more effective. I would appreciate any suggestions.

CL 18, Bab 17.
Moderately good skills. Gigantic feat sink.

Not as good as any of the classic 3, but certainly workable.

If you want to keep it pretty close to what you have, just replace militia with otherworldly.

Only elves from Evermeet and Deep Imaskari qualify for Otherworldly.

Deep Imaskari are pretty optimal and according to the fluff a human subrace.

Yeah I really wanted other worldly. I even thought about going deep imaskari. What are the classic three? Are you talking about the various EK, Wizard, Spellsword combos? What do they have that mine doesn't?

They were once human. They aren't anymore, they don't have "count as human" thing that, say, Illumians do.

I'm 90% sure underdark was printed pre-human subtype.

@OP:
1) Ftr 1/ Wiz 6/ Spellsword 1/ AC 5/ EK 7
2) Pally 2/ Sorc 4/ SS 1/ AC 5/ Sacred Exorcist 8
3) Wiz 6/ Swiftblade 10/ Unseen Seer or AC 4

It was, sure.
That doesn't mean anything in it gets the human subtype, just because it didn't exist at the time.

Agreed. I was just stating my understanding of the fluff. It would be reasonable to give them the subtype by the fluff, but is not in the rules.

So was otherworldly feat printed before the imaskari race? This would be the most awesome thing ever.

Do you play with LA Buy-off? If so, play a Teifling. INT and DEX bonus, and Outsider type for martial weapon proficiency.
I'd personally drop Improved Toughness, in favour of moving Power Attack up the chain. You'll easily have Wraithstrike by 9th. Extend Spell is also brilliant for 1 round combat boosts like Wraithstrike - get it if you can.
Knight Phantom is a better class, but it requires more of an investment to get into. One option would be picking up the 5th level of Abjurant Champion for 3rd level quickened abjurations, and dropping out KP for EK, as you wont get the capstone. This will give you two feats, more or less.

Otherworldly was printed before Deep Imaskari (and then reprinted after), yes. Races of Destiny came after both (and introduced the human subtype).

Deep Imaskari get +2 INT, so you could even drop Human Paragon and gain a spellcaster level... but they have a very FR-specific flavor.

As delicious as tiefling is, I stayed away from it because from it because my DM hinted that his 1st few games would be real tough. I opted for human because of human paragon and the extra hit points it offers. I can't really change this because my character has an npc fraternal twin thats all ready human. He'd be ******. I can get away with Otherworldly which combined with human paragon is almost as good. I can certainly swap power attack and improved toughness around.

If I go with EK instead of KP I'll be losing an average of 10 hp, 10 rounds of blade of the phantom, some phantom steads and two more class abilities. In exchange I'll get two more feats. Would extend spell and persistent spell really be a worthy trade off?

Also would only taking 9 levels of EK or KP & 5 AC prevent me from either going epic or at least getting epic feats at 21? I've never gotten to play an epic level character and I'd like to build for it if possible.

Ah, I see what you mean about the Teifling. Human is definately needed then, for RP restrictions at the least.

Just a note - 10 HP isn't worth much (but the class features are). I completely agree with you that KP is better than EK, though. EK is easy to enter, that's all, and doesn't come with any RP restrictions. Though, if Extend and Persist are the things you'd be getting, I'd say yes. Yes, it's worth it. IMHO, Extend and Persist are hands down the two of the three best metamagic feats out there (quicken being the other), though I'm sure others will disagree with my assessment of that.

You'll still be able to get epic feats, just if you take levels in a class above it's standard progression, you get bonus epic feats, and bonus epic feats are good. It's not going to screw your character over or anything to be one or two levels off epic progression, and most things break down in epic anyway.

Champions of Valour:
Background: Celestial attended birth.

You can now pick Otherworldy regardless of your home region. Correct me if I'm wrong

I decided that I'm sticking with Knight Phantom and that I'm going to give my cohort Persistent Spell and Craft Rod (if necessary) in an attempt to get those fantastic persistent spells for my character. I found a page with the formula for pricing new kiinds of metamagic rods broken down and I'm sure my DM will allow it.

I just wanted to say thanks for helping me out guys. The Otherworldly feat is going to be really beneficial, Darkvision rocks at low levels. I know I didn't say anything earlier but My character is kind of the unnofficial group leader so the bonus to diplomacy is an added bonus. Also for RP purposes he doesn't have a soul which works for story purposes. Lets hope he doesn't fall over and die before he gets a 5000 gp diamond for ressurection. Anyway I just wanted to thank you guys for helping me optimize my character.
