#1 Chosenofragnarok Jan 23, 2012 22:14:25	I figured I would post this question here. As I am a little concered.. Hopefuly many of you 3.5'ers still come here for a guide or two. I am a huge fan of d&d and an especialy huge fan of 3.5. Wishing my 3.5 could still be supported to this day... (in none PF form).  However being brought up in 1st ed and slowly seeing the edition changes i still have a bit of hope for Wotc.  I do hope that 5th ed can "unite the horde" so to say. So I am curious for any of you that read this. Are you looking forward to 5th ed? What do you want to see from it(from a 3.5 perspective)? Personaly though I think it is a pipe dream. I hope in 5th ed  I can play a 3.5 esc character, with tons of options/customization playing next a 4th ed esc character that has more streemlined mechanics.  With both characters feeling like they contributed.

#3 sleepyshadow Jan 24, 2012 2:54:15	While I certainly hope that 5th Edition will be worthwhile, I don't hold my hopes high. It seems the schism between the Old Editions camp, the New Edition camp, and the 3rd Party camp is too deep for a new edition of the game to repair. It also seems like 5th Ed. is coming out far too soon for as little time as 4th Ed. has been out. I started out with 1st Ed. as well (blue box, to be precise), and although it has been fascinating to watch the game I grew up with grow and change, I was honestly disappointed with 4th Ed. I'm not trying to be a purist or anything, I just felt that after the intense level of character customization allowed in 3.5, 4th was perhaps too simple for my tastes. However, all of the editions of D&D have flaws of their own, and I'm always quick to point out that no edition, nor any game, is perfect. I hope 5th Edition will be the cure-all solution. I agree with you that I want to be able to create every last intricate detail of my character's build while allowing someone else at the table to follow a simple character progression and still be able to participate. I hope 5th Ed. will be this good, but I'll save the celebration until after I've read through the DMG.

She established the BG site, now called: minmaxboards.com Stop by. Plenty of goodies since mid-2008. Edition wars aren't necessary on what is obviously a partisan board. The mechanics introduced in 4e, can be converted over to 3e/3.5e. And vice versa. The more officiously official something like that gets done, the more likely it is to be accepted ; compared perhaps to PF. If 5e is gonna have a presto chango bridge to either or both editions ... well, more power to it.
