... right?

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040213a

I'm using the LA +0 version, a female drow (since it matters), and going for some manner of clerical casting (Of Lloth).

A few things of note:

The character is to be ECL 11. I would prefer neutral evil rather than chaotic evil as an alignment, just for roleplay reasons, but can do either. I rolled fairly mediocre stats, +9, with a 15 as the highest.

One thing that I really like flavourwise is the knight of Lloth feat in Drow of the Underdark, which allows you to ride a spider on walls and ceilings. So ideally I would like a spider mount class feature. The Arachne class in Faiths and Pantheons gives me this, but is a bit rubbish.

Any suggestions?

If you have invocations and fell flight in particular you cannot get away without eldritch spear... Beguiling Infulence is the king of cool, but I would say eldritch spear is better in this scenario.

i was thinking she could pick up that one with Codex Advocare, still 60' range is enough for most situations, especially in the Underdark

As for riding a spider on walls and ceilings, check out the Steeder creature from Races of Faerun. It's a fairly intelligent spider-thing that the Duergar managed to create, and as such, it's far easier to deal with than actual vermin.

Think of all the resources you'll save by taking something that looks like a spider, and acts like a spider, but will cost you 1500gp plus an exotic saddle instead of several awful feats. Buy one today!

For those that care:

The mother

Laelynda Torndar, NE

Race: Lesser Drow, as above

Cleric of Lloth 2/Conjurer 1/Master of Shrouds 8

Feats
1) Spell focus: conjuration
Darkness: Blindfight
Drow: Lightning reflexes
3) Practised spellcaster (cleric)
6) Leadership
9) Close companion (From Dragon)

Spells per day (Caster level eleven)

0 1 2 3 4 5
6 7 6 5 4 3

Class features
Cleric: Darkness and Drow domain
Conjurer: Augmented summoning and Rapid summoning variants, banning abjuration and enchantment

Summon Undead (Sp): At 2nd level and higher, a master of shrouds can summon one or more incorporeal undead creatures a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier (minimum 1). This ability is otherwise identical to the summon monster spells, except that a master of shrouds adds her Charisma modifier (if positive) to the duration of the effect.

At 2nd level, a master of shrouds can summon a single shadow. At 4th level, she can summon one wraith or two shadows. At 6th level, she can summon one spectre, two wraiths, or four shadows. At 8th level, she can summon one greater shadow, two spectres, four wraiths, or four shadows. At 10th level, she can summon one dread wraith, two greater shadows, four spectres, four wraiths, or four shadows.

Improved Summoning (Ex): Beginning at 5th level, a master of shrouds summons more powerful undead creatures than normal. Whenever she casts a summon undead spell or when she uses her summon undead class ability, the summoned creature gains a +2 enhancement bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls.

Stats (After racial adjustment ->after level boosts ->after items)

Str 14
Dex 12 -> 14
Con 12 -> 14
Int 12
Wis 15 ->16->20
Cha 13 ->14-> 16

So, the MoS ability is in effect six times per day, for fourteen rounds per time. Since the creatures summoned have no str or con scores, augmented summons doesn't give them bonuses, but she'll be packing a couple summon undeads too, plus desecrate and other misc undead bonuses (We have a bard with requiem in the party).

The son

Yazree Torndar, male lesser drow, LE

Abilities (after racial adjustments)

Str 17-> 18->20
Dex 17 ->18->20
Con 15 ->17
Int 14 ->16
Wis 13
Cha 9

Focused specialist abjurer 2/Samurai(CW)2/Fighter 2/Abjurant champion 4

Feats:
1: Combat Casting
3:W focus (bastard sword)
S1: W prof (bastard sword)
S2: Two weapon fighting
F1: Power attack
F2: Combat expertise
6: Arcane strike
9: Improved two weapon fighting

Class features
FS Abjurer: Ban evocation, enchantment, necromancy

Something else of note: DM has ruled that Mage Armour is abjuration, as is greater mage armour.

Spells per day (compulsory abjuration), caster level six
0 1__2__3
4 3(3) 3(3) 2(3)

The backstory

Yazree was eternally a disappointment to his mother. First he was a difficult birth, then he was chucked out of the mage's school, then he was chucked out of the fighter's college. Finally, his mother decided that he could not be trusted by himself, and decided to take him adventuring with her, rather than leaving him home alone.

Yazree is resentful towards his mother, but would never raise his hand against her because of his deeply ingrained respect for women. This means that he takes out his anger on other things, eviscerating in the name of the cause by way of personal release.

Laelynda's somatic component for healing her son is cuffing him round the ear.

I'll add more detail as I go. If anyone's got anything to add, I'd be glad to listen.
