| #1cycadaMar 31, 2009 0:36:46 | Hey all, I just thought I'd bring to you my current build in my campaign for a bit of critiqueing, I'm at 3rd level right now, but we're leveling pretty fast. This is my future build and what I'm putting into it. If anyone has any C&C I'd love to hear it. EDIT: See newer build below! ~Cy |
| #2volatrisMar 31, 2009 0:57:34 | Forget the defending gauntlets, at level 20 both AC 28 and AC 23 might as well be AC 0. (or said more constructively, you might want to do something about your defenses/survivability) |
| #3WeezelMar 31, 2009 1:09:15 | Pretty sure you need Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack and Blind-Fight to qualify for Telflammar Shadowlord. |
| #4gorfnad_the_shiznitMar 31, 2009 1:38:21 | You should go Rogue 2/ Swash 3 to get the best amount of skill points. 1st - Rogue - Craven 2nd - Rogue 3rd - Swashbuckler - Dodge 4th - Swashbuckler 5th - Swashbuckler 6th - Assassin - Mobility 7th - Assassin 8th - Assassin 9th - Assassin - Spring Attack 10th - Assassin 11th - Assassin 12th - Assassin - Blindfight 13th - Assassin 14th - Assassin 15th - Telfammar Shadowlord - Daring Outlaw 16th - Telfammar Shadowlord 17th - Telfammar Shadowlord 18th - Telfammar Shadowlord - Ability Focus Death Attack 19th - Telfammar Shadowlord 20th - Telfammar Shadowlord Why are you carrying around Adamantine Full Plate? You should be wearing +5 Mithril Chain Shirt instead. Okay for AC purposes. +5 Mithril Chain Shirt +5 Mithril Buckler Ring of Protection +5 Amulet of Natural Armor +5 +5 Deadly Precision Parrying Defending Keen Rapier Dex 20 (+5) Base 10 = AC 46 easily + Dodge = 47 However I noticed your Int is insane. You can take advantage of it with a build like this. 1. Rogue - Craven 2. Rouge 3. Swashbuckler - Blindfight 4. Swashbuckler 5. Swashbuckler 6. Cobra Strike Monk Variant - Dodge, Carmendine Monk 7. Cobra Strike Monk Variant - Mobility 8. Assassin 9. Assassin - Spring Attack 10. Assassin 11. Assassin 12. Assassin - Martial Study: Shadow Jaunt 13. Assassin 14. Assassin 15. Telfammar Shadowlord - Martial Stance: Assassins Stance 16. Telfammar Shadowlord 17. Telfammar Shadowlord 18. Telfammar Shadowlord - Shadow Blade or Daring Outlaw 19. Telfammar Shadowlord 20. Telfammar Shadowlord For AC Ring of Protection +5 Amulet of Natural Armor +5 Bracers of Armor +5 +5 Defending Deadly Precision Parrying Keen Dagger Int 32 (+11) Dex 24 from base and Gloves of Dex +5 (+7) Base 10 = AC 49 + Dodge = 50 |
| #5unundindurMar 31, 2009 6:57:15 | For a sneak attack build you should definantly have 3 levels of rogue, so you can exchange trap sense for 1/2 sneak attack damage vs things otherwise immune. |
| #6cycadaMar 31, 2009 7:28:13 | Now that I think about it, my AC would actually be 32, due to 3 being natural and 1 being from size. Also, wasn't aware of the feat requirements as I hadn't really checked it out. I can't redo what class I took first, we're at 3rd level now and the extra BaB at first level worked well. About the full plate, I'm pretty sure that you might want to read what I put explaining how that all works. :D The freedom armor was for me, the fullplate stays in my Portable hole until I need an extra Huge combatant on the battlefield due to the animate object ability of my Imp. And hm....sacrificing 2 points on my Assassin save DC for a huge boost to my AC....well, I really don't have any other way to get the feats so let me see if I can figure this out. (Also, Leadership is integral to the build considering it gives me a HUGE amount of money and help for free) This was meant to focus on Death Attack, not quite sneak attack. :D Rebuilt levels will follow sometime soon. Edit: Here's my new idea Race: Poisondusk Lizardfolk Str 16, Dex 20, Con 20, Int 34, Wis 16, Cha 13 1. Swashbuckler 1 - Weapon Finesse, Two-weapon Fighting 2. Rogue - 3. Rogue - Craven 4. Swashbuckler - 5. Swashbuckler - 6. Assassin - Leadership 7. Assassin - 8. Assassin - 9. Assassin - Daring Outlaw 10. Assassin - 11. Assassin - 12. Assassin - Aleval School or Darkstalker 13. Assassin - 14. Assassin - 15. Monk of the Long Death - Carmendine Monk 16. Monk of the Long Death - 17. Monk of the Long Death - 18. Monk of the Long Death - Ability Focus: Death Attack 19. Monk of the Long Death - 20. Monk of the Long Death - Death Attack DC at 20: 42 (10 base + 12 Int + 2 focus + 1 dagger + 2 bracers + 15 levels) With penalty on their save from Aleval School, this ends up being an effective DC 44 save. If my Imp possesses me and help out this boosts it even further to a DC 46 effective save. Average damage on a single attack against a flat-footed target: 54 (1d4 + 3 str + 20 craven + 2 profane + 8d6 SA + 3 enhancement + 12 Int) When possessed personally by my Imp this is boosted to 55, but when the weapon is possessed with the Imp the damage can be anything depending on the traits given to it. Ac at 20: 47 (10 base + 12 Int + 5 Dex + 1 monk + 3 natural + 1 size + 5 defending + 5 bracers + 5 amulet) With help from my Imp, my AC will be 49 instead. Sneak Attack at 20: +8d6 (+5d6 assassin, +3d6 rogue/swash) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Imp: Warlock 1/Devil Bloodline 3/Fiend of Possession 6/Something else 4 Using the Devil Bloodline to increase the FoP's class to lvl 9, I can further enhance my weapons using him. a +5 Assassination Toxic Virulent Venomous Bane Kusari-gama from a +1 weapon for free is kinda hard to pass up. And when not using poisons, so much more is possible too, considering that each time he repossesses the weapon the ability can change. The Warlock level(s) give him the ability to use Shatter and Eldritch blast as Spell-like abilities, even while in possession form with the weapon. Also, depending on what those last four levels are, so much more is possible. When not helping out my lizard directly, he can either scout ahead with his nondetection ability, invisibility spell-like ability, and ethereal form all helping him do so. Or, my lizard can pull his huge adamantine armor out of the portable hole to give a nice Hardness 20 huge object for the Imp to possess to help flank and bash stuff if room allows. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Equipment: Hideaway +3/+3 Glassteel Assassin's Kusari-gama, Greater Truedeath crystal, Greater Demolition crystal, Bracers of Murder and Armor +5, Amulet of Natural Armor, +5 Defending Gauntlet, Tome of Int +5, Headband of Intellect +6, Dex +1, Con +1, Greater Collar of Umbral Metamorphosis, Portable Hole, Huge-sized Adamantine Fullplate --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This build still is able to use the death attack goodness, as well as the Carmendine monk trick that the other one used. Sadly I'm losing Tef Shadowlord, but Dimension Hop + Death Attack is still decent anyway, even without the extra attacks. |
| #7grifter730_dupMar 31, 2009 10:48:58 | Not sure what Daring Outlaw or Aleval School gives you, but Darkstalker feat from Lords of Madness is a must-have in my opinion. It negates things like Blindsense, Tremorsense, and Blindsight, and will allow your Hide check to work even against creatures with those senses. This will make you super sneaky and will allow you to Death Attack even more creatures. Also make sure to get Deathsight spell asap ![]() |

Also make sure to get Deathsight spell asap Daring Outlaw lets you combine rogue and swash levels to determine sneak attack damage and bonus to reflex from grace. (Complete Scoundrel) Aleval School in my opinion is really not that useful. With that build he should consider Improved Two Weapon Fighting or Darkstalker instead. (Drow of the Underdark) For the last four levels of the Imp I would suggest Binder 1/ Hellfire Warlock 3. It gets you more eldritch blast and invocations as well as a way to heal the con damage from hellfire by binding Naberius |
| #9cycadaMar 31, 2009 14:45:13 | That's exactly what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure whether or not the Imp could actually make the checks involved to do the binding, or atleast relatively well. Either way, would it be better to take five levels of Hellfire Warlock and just use the bind feats to get Naeberius or are the benefits of taking the level of Binder worth it? The only reason that I think that Aleval School is worth it is because of the prevalent use of poison for my character along with the Death Attack itself, it would just seem that a -2 to Fort would be nice. Improved Two-weapon Fighting could be nice, but Darkstalker is most likely the better option if I were to replace it, since without shadowpouncing it makes it a bit harder to get that sneak attack full attack. ~Cy |
| #10grifter730_dupMar 31, 2009 15:06:44 | If you're allowed to use Magic of Faerun, you can get Gloves of the Balanced Hands, which gives you Improved TWF if you already have TWF. Since you're already using gauntlets though, you can just incorporate it into the gauntlets via the MIC rules. |
| #11sofawallMar 31, 2009 16:33:43 | Wow, I didn't know about those! Dread Pirate plus those. Free TWF. |
| #12true_shinkenMar 31, 2009 16:35:03 | Drop the rapier for an organripper; that's an extra +1d6 sneak attack. |
| #13cycadaMar 31, 2009 23:37:01 | Drop the rapier for an organripper; that's an extra +1d6 sneak attack. What's an organripper? And where is a rapier. I'm confused. :D I will have to check out that balanced hands thing though, considering the build isn't primarily based around TWF, but benefits greatly from being able to do it. ~Cy |

Hellfire Warlock is only 3 levels long. And binding Naberius can be done with just the binding feat and chosing the faster ability score healing ability from his profile. However a level of binder is not to bad either so you can get all of Naberius's abilities going instead of just the one. |

Sinister Spire pg.20 It's a +1 dagger that deals an extra 1d6 damage against a target that is denied it's dex to AC, or is helpless. Flanking also works :D |
