Hi all! I'll be playing a 5 PC evil campaign soon, and I'm having some trouble figuring out how to make the most of my character. I'll be playing a Human/half-fiend(horned devil) Rogue/assassin (I know the +4 LA for half fiend sucks big time, but thats an RP priority...) Anyone got any ideas how to progress this character? I really want him to be an assassin kind of guy, but he has got poison immunity, and that kind of makes half the assassin PrCl useless....

We're playing a min. +2LA campaign starting at ECL 7.
My starting ability scores. (before Half-fiend template added,):

Str 20, Dex 20, Con 14, Int 20, Wis 8, Cha 12
(Str 16, Dex 16, Con 12, Int 16, Wis 8, Cha 10)

Otherwise as a "normal" Human/Half-fiend(horned devil) 3rd lvl rogue, except as follows:

Natural Armor +4
Damage Reduction 5/good

This is taken from the half fiendish web enhancement
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060630a

Anyone got any ideas?

What parts of the Half-Fiend template do you want to keep? If you're aware that the +4 LA is bad, then consider taking a different race/template/combinatino that will keep the flavour you're after. For instance, a Human Half-Fey with Bat wings instead of Butterfly wings with the fluff text of being decended from a Succubus, or a Draconic Teifling.
So yeah - are you set on being a Half-Feind, or what specifically do you want from the template?
Assassin isn't that bad as long as you've got access to all the good Assassin spells from places like the SpC. If you don't, it's far from being good - Straight Rogue will easily outplay it. What sort of role do you want to play in the party?

Thanks for the reply!
I think the half-fiend template is good for the character. Ecpesially Since i managed to squeeze in the NA+4 and change the DR type. The nat.attacks are cool, smite good is nice, and all the special qualities are good. But the best part is the ability modifiers. (+4str, +4dex, +2con, +4int, +2 cha)
My stats are ideal for a cold, calculating, skillmonkey/assassin.

I wanna spend my skillpionts on sneaky skills (hide, move silently), technical skills (open lock, disable divice), acrobatic skills (tumble, escape artist). He´s observant (spot, listen) and he feels threatening (intimidate). he can allso disguise himself quite good, so that people dont start hunting him down as soon as they see him.
He should really have had a -5 to sense motive, since he´s supposed to be a psychopath, and he has no skills in bluff or diplomacy.

Maybe there is a good way to modify the assassin PrCl? Remove all the poison resistance +1, +2 etc.. and replace it with something else?
Or if anyone knows of any other cool prestigeclasses that could work in the build. Any progression ideas?

(i can use the SpC btw :D)

Consider an Unseen Seer build. Any SA dice you lose by multiclassing are regained by Casting "Eyes of the Hunter", which you can access via Unseen Seer, plus you can keep it at almost full casting progression.

Look around the boards for good builds.

Pay in mind that Magic >> anything else, especially for a sneaky character.

Another very nice build could be a chameleon. Casting progression will start a little late, but will be MUCH better than Assassin, overall, since you can take spells from ANY list. At some point you can be a Rogue AND an Arcane Caster (Wraithstrike, Polymorph, Teleport) AND a divine caster with sixth level spells (Divine Power!!, Eyes of the Hunter). Most utility/combat boosts are low level spells. Your stats are excellent, you will have no trouble with MAD. I think there is also a Rogue progression for Chameleon with increased SA dice, or a Martial Progression with proficiencies etc.

Plus the floating feat rocks.

These are, IMHO, better choices than assassin.

It's "Hunter's Eye"

To be honest, with that much LA, Unseen seer doesn't seem too attractive. If going for Hunter's Eye: Archivist5/Divine Oracle4/X

Where X is hopefully something that grants turn Undead and progresses divine casting.. only class that comes to mind is Sacred Exorcist, but that can't be evil.
