There are probably a lot of ways to go here, but I don't know which is the right path. Any WoTC products would be OK, but not uber-cheese, like pun pun. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
| #2true_shinkenFeb 01, 2009 14:05:17 | No starting point, no starting level...? Please read the posting guidelines. |
| #3suin_bahhar_02Feb 01, 2009 14:11:10 | TK disarm can possibly be optimized to effect swaths of targets with a standard action. |
| #4winternachtFeb 01, 2009 14:34:16 | Is that some kind of challenge? |
| #5suin_bahhar_02Feb 01, 2009 15:10:16 | What if it is? :P |
| #6rasmus_wagnerFeb 01, 2009 15:29:42 | Well, there's a kukri-and-rapier style feat in complete warrior that will net you an extra attack each round. Sufficiently sleighty hands will let you steal your opponents backup weapon as a free action before you take his main weapon. Leaving your enemies bereft of weapons synergizes well with DR of some sort. |
| #7emansdrawkcabFeb 02, 2009 1:59:12 | Crescent Moon allows for a disarm attempt after having attacked with both a sword and a dagger in the same round. Couple that with Combat Reflexes and Double Hit, Improved Disarm, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Focus (dagger), and Weapon Focus (bastard sword OR longsword OR scimitar OR short sword). Maybe dip a level of Barbarian for Pounce, (and Whirling Frenzy, duh), or get Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Dual Strike OR the Blitz feats, and you could be stealing quite well. Other ways disarm related modifiers include: * Boosting you attack roll. (to disarm is your attack roll vs. opponent's attack roll) * Being larger than the opponent. (+4 per size category) * Disarming while wielding your weapon two handed. (I don't think this can help you steal, when you disarm with a weapon the disarmed object falls to the ground) * Being unarmed. (-4 on the roll to attempt to disarm) Questions I have include: * Monks are considered to be armed even when unarmed, can they bypass the -4 to disarm attempts thanks to this? * Are there any other way to boost disarm attempts? * Would Aptitude fists (via Kensai) allow for a disarm attempt (or in this case theft) every two times a fist heavy Monk attacks twice? Assuming he has the Crescent Moon feat, and switches between fists (as a Monk can), every attack? * Is there an item that allows you to hide things as a free action? I remember some bracelet allowing you to turn whatever is in your hand into a charm, (don't know what kind of action it took...) anyone remember a source? * Are there classes that boost disarming abilities? A starter build, off the top of my head would go something like: Half Giant Monk 6/ Warmind 5/ Barbarian (Pounce)(Whirling Frenzy) 1/ Swordsage 2/ Kensai X/ ... Y Feats: Tashalatora/ Monastic Training (War Mind), Improved Disarm, Greater Two Weapon Fighting, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Two-Weapon Fighting, Crescent Moon, Snap Kick... Expansion and Powerful Build, Greater Flurry, Aptitude Fists, Whirling Frenzy |

| #10surrealFeb 02, 2009 2:51:09 | I like the Flindbars (MM3, under Flind Gnoll). They're an exotic 1H bludgeoning weapon which are basically heavy duty nunchucks, and you get an automatic disarm attempt on a critical threat. |
| #11empirateFeb 02, 2009 16:40:23 | The Disarming weapon enchantment from Magic of Faerûn allows you to ignore weapon size bonuses your opponent might have, and provides a +1 bonus on your attack roll to disarm. Imagine disarming Two-Handers with your puny little dagger!![]() |
| #12playswithfireFeb 02, 2009 23:12:24 | Marshal 2 lets you pick up Art of War (CHA mod to disarms) and Motivate Attack (+1 to melee attack rolls, negating the loss of BAB) and gives these to your allies as well |
| #13playswithfireFeb 03, 2009 23:11:31 | Charm and Disarm A charisma-base melee disarmer playable from ECL 2 planned up to ECL 9 Goliath Bard 4/Marshal 2/Swordsage 2 (actual order BMMBSBBS) 1 Exotic Weapon Proficiency(gnome swordcatcher**) Flaw1 Combat Expertise Flaw2 Improved Disarm 3 Snowflake Wardance 6 Ascetic Mage Marshal Auras Minor: Art of War Major: Motivate Attack 28 point buy STR 18, DEX 10, CON 16, INT 14, WIS 8, CHA 14; boost cha at 4 and 8 |
| #14phaedrusxyFeb 04, 2009 13:59:23 | Polymorph into something enormous, and cast True Strike. :D |
| #15hogarthFeb 04, 2009 14:16:38 | The psionic power Telekinetic Thrust is pretty good at it (Will save, or your $#!+ goes flying all over the place). For extra annoyance, make the thrust go straight up in the air so that fragile stuff like wands and bows break when they hit the ground. Extra bonus points if you can ricochet the goods off of another enemy at the same time. |

| #17dyslexicfaserFeb 06, 2009 18:42:40 | Another method might be to get Ranged Disarm from CWar and literally shoot the weapons out of your enemies' hands. Requires Point Blank Shot and Precise shot and doesn't stack with Imp Disarm, unfortunately. Then go Warblade10/that one ToB elf PrC10, and use Island of Time and Time Stands Still to get like 20 disarm attempts in one turn by level 17. |
| #18DeAnnoFeb 06, 2009 20:38:25 | Venerable Lesser Aasimar Ghost LA+5/Rogue 1/BattleDancer 1 (Drag Comp)/Marshal 1/Paladin 2/Master Of The Unseen Hand 4 (ECL 14) Your stats are Str -6 (rarely used); Con -; Dex -6; Wis +3; Cha +9 Maximize Cha: At ECL 14, 18+9+2+6(item)=35 (You can easily get items by having a friendly caster plane shift with them to the Ethereal Plane). Choose the Art of War Minor Marshal Aura for a +Cha bonus to Trip, Disarm, Sunder and Bull Rush. Master of the Unseen Hand improves your Telekinesis Su, making your CL (12 due to the Ghost Su) act as your BaB and letting you full attack with Telekinesis manuevers. Your Disarm Bonus is +40=12CL+14Cha+14Cha, and you can Full Attack with it from a Range of 880 feet (Respective bonuses of +40/+35/+30). In addition, you have a lot of extra tricks, most notably pretty good stealth abilities (use those rogue skills!). As for feats, definitely take Darkstalker, but you might have to get pretty inventive with the rest :P |
| #19anansiFeb 07, 2009 19:12:41 | There's a third party splatbook called Mercenaries which contains a monkish PrC called "Initiate of the Shattered Steel" who focuses not only on disarming people, but also destroying their weapons in the process and forcing you to fight them unarmed. Definitely the best Monkish type I've ever seen, though the other PCs might get bent out of shape as you will be destroying their loot. |

Ahah, rule #1. A) DON'T DESTROY YOUR SOON-TO-BE LOOT. B) Unless you're using VoP, in which case you're in the wrong book... Optimized, being the operative word. :D |
| #21shriekingdrakeFeb 11, 2009 17:09:41 | It's my recollection that the WotC site had a Disarm spell on it somewhere. It may or may not be optimized--I can't find it at the moment, so I can't say. It may be useful. --ShriekingDrake |

| #26shriekingdrakeApr 13, 2009 13:40:27 | I would also consider Master of the Unseen Hand, which improves telekinetic abilities. While true, I'm not sure it's worth the dip. As a PrC, they're just not that good. Albeit, the OP wanted info, so no intend to censor here. --ShriekingDrake |
| #27altpersonaApr 13, 2009 14:39:07 | Here is the Disarm Spell: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mb/20041020a --ShriekingDrake this one is new to me... thats not saying alot really.. but, sorc1/marshal 1 w/ prac caster(? fixing caster lvl..) cl2 + 4 (cha) + 4(marshal) = +10 on disarm roll vs opposed attack roll. @lvl 2 you have decent odds of it working.. seems like this need to be in a wand... 750gp x 19th lvl caster x lvl 1 spell = 15k ish for 50 uses.. or about 300 per use... now, we CL19 + caster cha w/ marshall arua (double CHA) for the oppssed attack roll.. the roll should easily be +60.. it really could get very much worse without involving a kobald, bloodlines or any of the standard CO packages.. |
