| #1pegasos989Mar 23, 2008 14:39:45 | Heya. So, I was concidering to make an eye of the Gruumsh. Mostly due to flavor related reasons and I've already decided on making a half-orc so that won't change but still not quite certain on EoG PrC. Was concidering some somewhat simple build like Barbarian 5/Fighter 1/Exotic weapon master 1/Eye of Gruumsh Now, what boggles me is the required weapon profiency and focus on Orc Double Axe. The double weapon seems to fit two weapon fighting style and as the class is otherwise very orc-barbarianish, I don't see any benefit fro going two-weapon fighting. I could go something like Barbarian 2/Ranger 2/Fighter 2/EWM 1/EoG to get the first TWF feat or even Ranger 6/Barbarian 1/EoG to get the second one too (not like I would be keeping the DEX high enough for the requirements) but I don't see any point. Even the picture has greataxe wielding EoG. I could just use the axe as one two-handed weapon but if not using it as a double weapon spending feats in it is complete waste and looks kinda stupid roleplaying-wise IMHO. So, is there any mechanical reason to use double weapon in that PrC or is there a way to do it mechanically without lagging A LOT behind (I don't mind normal "TWF is inferior" that much but really, keeping high enough DEX for the feats or going pure ranger when I'd like barbarian levels too is kinda annoying). Thanks for the help in advance. |

It lets you apply all your weapon-specific feats for double axes to great axes, meaning you don't have to TWF (which is a stupid move on a high Str charger, which is what a good barbarian IS!). Oh and PLEASE not so many levels of Barbarian. It makes baby Jeebus cry. Instead, try this: Lion Totem Barbarian 1/Fighter 4/Eye of Gruumsh 2 Feats: Extra Rage (1st), EWP - Double Axe (Fighter 1), WP Focus (Fighter 2), Shadow Marches Warmonger (3rd), Power Attack (Fighter 4), Leap Attack (6th), Shock Trooper (9th) You may also consider dumping the 3rd and 4th Fighter levels in favor of some ToB goodness (Crusaders and Warblades get some sexy options for charging). Also, be a Water Orc from unearthed Arcana. +4 Str and +2 Con are just too sexy for a Barb to pass up. |

Thanks for the tips. I don't know if I can use that feat due to the source (the reason why I don't list allowed sources is that I'm not quite sure about them myself. The completes, PHP 2, races of X are in, sandstorm, etc. propably too but as it is FR game, I don't know about Eberron books) but I'll ask the DM tomorrow. In case I won't be able to, is there any way to salvage the situation or will I need to give up EoG? Being half-orc barbarian, I don't exactly have a lot of feats to waste... And yeah, I should propably keep less barbarian levels. Where is the Lion Totem Barbarian from? Also, I don't think I can enter EOG that soon, BAB requirement being +6. Water orc seems delicious indeed but again, not quite sure how my DM feels about that. That's the reason why I went with half-orc instead of regular orc too... I can ask it tomorrow but I think that just in case, I better be prepared to go with half-orc... Thanks anyways |

If you decide to stick with the Double Axe maybe you could focus on getting as many attacks per round as possible? Things that I can think of right now are Exotic Weapon Master for Flurry, Whirling Frenzy variant Barbarian (UA/SRD), maybe some Warblade later on for Dancing/Raging Mongoose. There's a thread by Surreal that lists a lot of ways to gain extra attacks floating around here somewhere . Good luck, ~Bowen |
