Hey, our party is looking for ways to increase our movement speed over land. I know this isn't perfect for this forum, but I don't think anyone knows the game better, so; are there any ways to fast travel earlier than Wizards' 3rd level spell, phantom steed?

Thanks

Mount? How fast are you talking about? And how much money are you willing to spend? A scroll of Teleport is pretty fast. Tongue out

It's a low powered (E6ish) campaign, so anything creatable by a 6th level wizard/cleric/etc or less.

Traveler's mount (SpC) Sorc/Wiz 1. +20' Enhancement bonus to speed, hustle without taking damage or being fatigued. Mount cannot attack while spell is in effect.

Which means you can hustle over long distances. If your mount has a speed of 60', it becomes 80'. The base speed (a walk) is 64 miles in a day. If you can manage to have a CL of 8 with the e6 rules (dunno much about them) then you can hustle all day, for 128 miles in a day.

Will that work, or do you need faster?

You could just buy a cart or wagon player's hand book page 128 and use the 1st level sorcerer wizard spell Mount player's hand book page 256. A 6th level wizard could have a horse for 12 hours per casting.  If the wizard has the augment summoned feat your summoned mount now has more str meaning can carry more. so for 15 to 35 gold and a bit of horse hair you could have your own caravan. you can save a lot of time and energy if you just sit back and ride. having one person drive the wagon well the rest sleep now your set for rest well still moving. if you empty out the wagon or cart you can use the 2nd level sorcerer wizard Levitation spell player's hand book page 248 to move it over hills up cliffs over rivers and what not.  you could load the wagon down with hordes of treasure and just summon a few horses to pull the extra weight. Plus this gives you a mobile base for storing extra gear supplies or injured party members. if you want more speed could get a set of Horseshoes of Speed dungeon master's guide page 260 for 3000 gold so when you summon the mount it will have a 90 movement when pulling your wagon. there is also the1st level blackgaurd druid paladin ranger spell Traveler's Mount  spell compendium page 223 that gives 20 foot increase making your summoned mount move 80 saves you the 3000 gold or until you could get them. With a bullseye player's hand book page 128 you can travel at night with 120 feet of vision in front of you with low light its out to 240 feet. Also having 2 real horses is good for scouting and when you don't have the spells to summon the mounts.

Hmmmm, if you want to go evil with the character, you could always get a Sanctified (Book of Exalted deeds), Nightmare .  They have a fly speed of 120 ft.  Get Saddle bags of Endless space or something.  (Its like a portable hole but for Saddle bags).  Now your set with throwing anything you want into the saddle bags and you can move at 120 ft.  or More if you add in magic and you decide to buff your mount.  Doing a Cleric or Archavist may be your best bet for buffing your mount.  Do it right and your mount is nigh unstoppable.

Giant Size, Righteous Might, Divine Power just to name a few spells to increase your mounts capabilities further.

Or you could spend the around 20k or something to get a Onyx obsidian horse which does almost the same abilities as the Nightmare can do, except the Obsidian horse can use Teleport or Planar teleport or something.

Or if you allow Templates to mounts, pick the highest speed mount possible, toss on Paragon creature, now a 90 spd light warhorse is now running (Because of the run feat they have), 450 ft for as long as their con lasts, Sense paragon adds a x4 to things......1800 ft of land speed and flight.........I dont see a Normal spell like 'mount' beat that speed.

*3 for Paragon and I highly doubt the DM would let you run around on a Paragon mount.

I need to find what book it's in.  I remember a book having DCs for a new Survival skill usage called "Trailblazer" or something similar to help with overland movement.

Dark template adds +10 unnamed, but this Sense Paragon sounds like it blows everything else out of the water. Maybe check out "Chuck".

Dawnmor spelled Since wrong I believe, not Sense. Also the referenced Paragon Template makes the speed 3X what it was, not 4X. I know this for certain, because it's not only in the SRD, but I also made a creature with it (Paragon Multi-headed(Cyro, Lernaean) Winged Tarrasque of Legend, if anyone cares).
