Faster than light arrows (and bullets, and shuriken, and bolas...)

I have figured out how to make things go faster that light.

You need to have a venerable dragonwrought kobold at level 18.

Venerable Kobold
Bonus Feat Variant Rogue 2/Anything with spot as a class skill 16
All ability score points in dexterity (score of 12)
All level-up ability bonuses in dexterity (score of 16 at 17th level)
buy a +5 dex tome
feats:
1st: dragonwrought, Point Blank Shot (bonus)
2nd: Far Shot (bonus)
3rd-15th: Great dexterity (for a score of 26 at 15th level)
18th: Distant shot

firing at the sun gets you an arrow/bolt/weapon traveling at 80 times the speed of light

In fairness, there's already a guy who runs faster than light. We could just have him carry them.

With respect to your build, wouldn't it be easier to start with a score of 20 in Dex? Put in an 18, +2 Racial bonus? Also, Gloves of Dexterity will allow you to qualify for the feat without all those Great Dexterity feats. Play your cards right, you could likely pull this off before 10th level. Unless there's a Spot requirement on the feat, I've not actually looked at the Prereqs. If so, look at the feat in Cityscape that gives you a bonus rank for qualifying one level earlier. It's like Favored in Guild or somesuch.

Also, I think the basic gist of this has been done before. You may wish to check the Hulking Hurler builds, as I think they've got something like this in it (although the reason isn't for exceeding light speed, but for massive damage at range). Nice to see people still thinking about this sort of thing, though. Creative minds are always a help.

Actually, wouldn't the speed of light be infinite in DnD, since you could see arbitrarily far with an arbitrarily high Spot check? Your eyes would be picking up light that hadn't gotten to you yet, assuming the real world's speed of light.

I believe I've already posted this to the longest range record thread, although I didn't flesh out the build.

Where's the guy who runs faster than light? This I'd have to see, combined with the rule in the PHB somewhere that unless otherwise stated, D&D works like RL. Using relativistic speeds, and then hitting people...

mwhaha.

It's otherwise stated by the rules for spot checks...
