| #1guest522528623Jan 30, 2009 3:36:55 | I am playing an Archivist in our new 3.5 game that is about to start up, our DM is going to start us at level 9 :D but he has said NO RESERVE FEATS ALLOWED...... so my question is, what are some great feats to use other than those for this class...I can learn and cast any divine spell from most books so thats a plus just need some good feats to round him out and make a good build. thanks |

You'd be gaining turn attempts through a prestige class, in this case. I believe Sacred Exorcist is the choice one. If you have room left over, consider good summoning feats like Greenbound Summoning (LEoF), or Augment Summoning. Archivists are really strong summoners. Later on, Rashemi Elemental Summoning (UE) is solid. Depending on what you'll be fighting, you might want Draconic Archivist or Archivist of Nature. At 9th level, you're close to the Dread Secret ability so you might want to maximize the use of that amazing power by expanding your Dark Knowledges. And finally, Improved Initiative. I'm playing an Archivist right now, too, with a fairly conservative DM. I have a very limited list of available divine spells, no DMM, and no Greenbound. Starting at 1st, I managed to survive through sheer paranoia with a sling and a shortspear until I reached 3rd level. Then I grabbed invisibility from a cleric of Trickery and learned Summon Undead II. Since then, I've been dropping invisible and summoning those nasty owlbears. It got me far enough to buy scrolls of animate dead and desecrate, and now I have an armored zombie ogre with a greataxe. If you're playing evil and the more powerful feats above are disallowed, for whatever reason, I'd put Corpsecrafter (LM) on the list for consideration. If you like that sort of thing. |

Knowledge Devotion [Domain] (CC) -- This is a purely ridiculous feat for any Archivist who cares about their Knowledge skills. Insight bonuses aren't that common, and the ability to generate them in every fight against anyone the whole fight long will make your Bard weep. Trivial Knowledge -- See the Races section. Breadth of Knowledge (UA) -- All knowledge checks you make are treated as traned checks, even if you do not have any ranks in them. If you have at least one rank in the specifc Knowledge skill, you gain a +1 bonus on this check. Prereqs: legend lore or vision spell. A free point in every knowledge for one feat? Much better than a +2/+2 skill. Jack of all Trades (CAdv) -- Every skill is usable as if it had 1/2 rank in each skill. Prereqs: Int 13. Useful for skill mongers. Research (EbCS) -- Helps with gaining spells. You can visit libraries and research spells and other things. Insightful Reflexes (PHB) -- Your reflex saves are your worst saves, Dex is a dump stat and Intelligence is your best modifier. Simple logic, yes? |
