Mar 05, 2013 20:11:50 ok, I think I left someone really angry asking questions in old threads, sorry about that, really. But the doubt consume my soul!
Please, i read a lot of forums, but my DM is really anoying, as me, and only official anwers would be satisfactory.

There are many weapons that the description and shape are similar, like an elven courtblade and greatsword, and even a greatsword and a mercurial greatsword.
I would like to know which weapons coul benefit of feats from their counterpart.

Can i use Weapon focus [greatsword] or weapon specialization[greatsword] on a mercurial greatsword?

The Weapon JOVAR from the planar handbook description says "The greatswordlike weapon...", the rule apply?

What about a Scimitar and great scimitar? Falchion and Great falchion? Whip and barbed whip?

If someone has an official statement about it, share with me.

#2 Unless the weapon says otherwise (there's a few in Complete Adventurer) feats don't stack like that.

#3 Since some weapons are described as "Well, it's essentially this other weapon but more so" and coupled with the less than supremely powerful nature of almost every exotic weapon but the Spiked Chain (It trips, it's got uber reach, it disarms, it power attacks, and much much more!), many weapons are just waiting for house ruling for feat transparency of that type.

Good you have add the Complete adventure. In the page 116, it gives you the option to "expand" that benefit to other weapons, just because they are "similar enough" like a warmace be treated like a mace for the feats, and several other weapons. So i think it would be just following their lead, and theres no such description in every other weapon because the description would be too long, or because they dont remenber that, or laziness... As you say, they leave us to house rule all the rest.

It is from the legendary tome of battle and allows the weapon it is enhancing to be counted as another type of weapon for the purposes of feats and special abilities. I believe it is mentioned in the threads you "necroed" not that it is a huge deal I hadn't read those in awhile was nice to see :P. But I'm just stating that for completion's sake. A warblade (same book) can switch feats new a new weapon once a day I believe too.

I'd rather see an old thread get new life then just see the same question asked for the hundredth time. It is even amusing to see an old thread come back and realize I already stated my opinion on the matter two or more years ago and it hasn't changed a bit.

They can. That's the easiest way to solve your problem: Take one level of warblade. An hour of practice can switch all of your Weapon Feats (Greatsword) over to Weapon Feats (Jovar) provided you're both proficient with and have a jovar on hand to practice.

It wasn't the necromancy that bothered me so much as the spamming.

Now that I agree with.

I also classify putting closely related "follow up" questions in different posts as "spamming" althougth not to the same level as putting the identical question forward in several different posts.
