Fell Spell?

I was perusing my Libris Mortis book after the new necro thread roused my interests of the undead once more, and upon my search of the book I found the Fell line of metamagic feats.

One in particular caught my eye, being the Fell Drain spell, and it got my gears turning.

How would this spell interact with Chill Touch? Would it deal a negative level for each CL you possess (since each chill touch attack is a seperate attack). In the same category, what about Produce flame and similar?

I'd say it applies to all your touch attacks, just as Maximise or Empower would.

No no, let me elaborate.

Chill Touch allows you to make one 'attack' with it for each CL you possess, meaning you roll a seperate melee touch attack for each 1d6 + str damage you deal with it. (Or atleast that is what I'm lead to believe)

I was wondering if the negative levels are given with each touch or just a single negative level total.

I believe the real technical rule lawyers of co will say it is 1 negative level per person (but not to multiple people if you touch multiple people) using the same logic that you don't get 5 negative levels if you target the same creature 5 times with a fell drain magic missile.

That's what I was answering to.

Each touch atack should deal a negative level. It makes the feat worth it.

If what your saying is true, then that means that a Necromancer 5 can take out things of it's level reliably. What is normally just 5d6 damage (NO SAVE!) and 5 str damage, assuming the best, is turned into the following(this is all assuming that all five attacks hit, i.e. optimized touch build):

5d6 negative energy damage
5 Strength damage
-5 to effective level
-5 on all die rolls
25 hit point removal

With average rolls on the negative energy damage, your dealing 40 damage with the spell, along with the major debuffs.

Also, Phoenix, there is a huge difference between Chill Touch and Magic Missile. Chill touch uses seperate attacks, whereas magic missile just does one set of damage. This would mean to me, that magic missile would inflict a negative level on every target hit by the spell, but only one since your dividing up the damage, not inflicting each 1d4 seperately as per Chill Touch.

I also asked about Produce Flame as well, which uses seperate attack rolls on different turns.

To summarize, I just thought that all this seemed a tad on the broken side if any of this is true...negative levels are amazing things. :D

Can you only use one chill touch per round? If so...hm, not quite as broken as I thought, but as far as I can tell, you either can use all the touch attacks in one round, or the touch spells last in your hands until used or you cast another spell, meaning you can cast it at the beginning of the day and not use it till 11:00 PM

Darkfire from spell compendium is better if fell spells work that way. It's persistable, too.

You can use it to raise an undead army of zombies :P
