#1 widow Oct 08, 2009 22:03:06	In an upcoming drow campaign, I have been clearance to run a fiend of possession.  Even better, I am taking the Otherworldly feat to gain outsider and given a free ritual of alignment to gain the evil subtype.  Starting level is ECL 5, and drow is the preferred race, but any underdark race is allowed.  This is a faerun campaign, so other campaign setting materials are dissallowed, along with Unearthed arcania, psionics, and Tome of Battle.  Psionics was a major hit since I was planning on going with thrallherd to get a "ride".  The other characters are not known at this point, except one player is going Ur-Priest.  Stats will be rolled. This is what I have so far: Beguiler 1, Warlock 1, Marshall 1, FoP 2, Mindbender 1, FoP 4, Fiend of Corruption 1 L1 Otherworldly, L3 Practiced Spellcaster (Beguiler), L6 Mindsight, L9 Leadership? The FoP requirements are a Will save of 5 along with Hide and Knowledge planes at 6 ranks.  So any combination of high will save base classes are good for entry, these just give lots of skill points and boosts to diplomancy.  The main idea of the character is to be mostly social, but I would like some role in combat. Unfortunately I have not come up with anything past this point.  Some ideas I think that don't work are: Thrallherd since no psionics (very sad) No bloodlines for more FoP goodness Unlikely to get Uncanny trickster stacking tricks by DM Ur-priest already covered Warlock abuse with Innate Supernatural ability feat might fly, maybe  Any suggestions of where to go from here (feel free to suggest different base classes)?  This is the first DM that I found that has not foamed at the mouth when I bring up the Fiend of Possession.
#2 Omen_of_Peace Oct 09, 2009 9:30:21	Binder (Tome of Magic) has some cool stuff to offer: Su abilities so IIRC you can still use them while possessing, after a few levels Focalor can help you debuff targets (-2 to saves). But it may not be available to you.

I was looking over the binder and it is pretty good.  I guess I will have to move away from the drow and thier favored wizard class.  The shadowcaster could also be okay, you can convert wizard and sorc levels to shadowcaster levels, but the saves don't change.   Another option is chameleon if I can get a huamn okayed.    Any other ideas?
