my group has been winding down our last campaign for months now, and one of the players has volunteered to DM the next one. last night, our current DM's laptop computer decided it was going to stop working, halting the fight we were in the process of losing, according to him. So.

i'd like your collective help on optimizing my next character, mostly because i've never played this type before. i'm not looking for ultimate powerful unkilllable here, just i have no idea what to do for fear selection, among other things.

The Setup: Campaign is set in eborron, so any feats from there are fair game. i've already talked to my DM about expertise in hopes of getting it applied or modified to casting. we agreed on it applying to touch spells, melee attacks and that's about it. i never realized the wording on it required you to attack :p almost forgot, we're starting at 3rd level.

The Character: changeling rogue/wizard going for Arcane Trickster. during the last war he worked for aundair as an infiltrator, a false order-giver and spy. we're gonna be almost equal parts wilderness/ruins and city adventuring, and have a mostly squishy group(me, bard going to full caster, psion, swordsage). the only trouble is, i'm at almost a complete loss for what i want to do so far as feats are concerned. i'd like to go for ray sneak attacks, deception and stealth. skill booster feats are very very low on my list of good options, but i really have too many others. do i go PBS tree, do i stack the spell booster feats, or use the dodge/mobility crutch? help please?

(*Edit*) stats have been rolled, str9, dex15, int15, cha11, wis10, con12

Apr 15, 2008 19:54:38 Arcane Trickster is almost universally concidered underpowered. If you want a sneaky spellcaster, concider the Beguiler class from PHB2, or the psionic Lurk from Complete Psionic. Or just a straight Wizard with an emphasis on sneaky spells.

just try this:

Generic Caster 6/ Arcane trickster 10/ Unseen Seer 4

and take Sneak Attack 2d6 class feature as your first bonus Feat
