I would use CWI to make most of his gear at 1/2 price. |

The only armor spells you can use are from BoED, the luminous armor spells. If you want to keep swashbuckler, and can't take ToB classes: 1-Fighter 2-Wizard 3-Swashbuckler 4-Swashbuckler 5-Swashbuckler 6-Spellsword 7-11-Abj.Champ 12+-Eldritch Knight This loses fewer caster levels, and havoc mage doesn't do much. If you can use manuevers: 1-Warblade 2-6-Wizard 7-Jade Phoenix Mage (JPM) 8-JPM 9-13-Abjurant Champ 14-20-JPM Gets 17 CL's and +17BAB, though it loses a bit of BAB frontloaded. --- As far as feats go, I'd suggest looking at something more focused that enhances a specific side of the character, either the warrior or the mage. At the very least, don't Arcane Thesis your fireball, it's inefficient as a spell. You might look at Arcane Strike from C.Warrior for some extra damage. Somatic Weaponry is actually not very useful, as placing your hand on or removing it from a two handed weapon is a free action (thus making somatic weaponry unnecessary). |
| #3wings_of_peaceJun 29, 2010 4:24:31 | My knowledge of Pathfinder is very poor so correct any mistakes I make. Legacy Champion would add with Abjurant Champion for determining the AC bonus to Abjurations. Is the starting level 16 or is that just how far you plan on getting? Because Arcane Disciple: War will net you Divine Power which with Incantatrix or Spelldancer could be persisted very easily to grant you the BaB you want. Combine that with Persistent Wraithstrike and you should be able to hit almost anything. Are flaws allowed or are they ruled out in Pathfinder? Because flaws would net you some easy feats. Is it necessary for you to be an elf? I ask because Human with the Character Background: Celestial-Attended Birth would allow you to be human for the feat (If they get the feat in Pathfinder) and qualify as an outsider which gives you access to alot of nice defensive Alter Selfs forms. You could take the character background as an elf too but it wouldn't let net you an extra feat. |
| #4Omen_of_PeaceJun 29, 2010 7:20:17 | Legacy Champion would add with Abjurant Champion for determining the AC bonus to Abjurations. Or not, because it's not clear Legacy Champion lets you progress a PrC beyond its limit... I also like Swiftblade as a gish PrC: it loses a lot of CLs but has an amazing, if slow, pay-off in return. For instance, Wizard 6/Swiftblade 2/Abjurant Champion 5/Swiftblade +7 |
| #5wings_of_peaceJun 29, 2010 9:10:36 | Legacy Champion would add with Abjurant Champion for determining the AC bonus to Abjurations. Depends on his DM really, Legacy Champion's wording is vague enough to at least stage an argument for its use. If he can take it then more power to him. |
| #6spiral_rider_hJun 29, 2010 11:20:17 | I've tried making a gish with Havoc Mage a few times, but I just keep finding it's a trap... Lost caster levels are always a problem. I propose this option, depending on race: Wizard 6/Human or Elf Paragon 3/Abjurant Champion 5/Dragonslayer 1/Eldritch Knight 5 If you decide to be an elf, you have two feats less to work with, but a better overall Reflex save. On the note of feat selection (I didn't consider the extra feats you get with Pathfinder rules), if you take Arcane Thesis (wraithstrike), you can Persist it in a seventh level slot and Extend it in a second. Since you plotted the character out to sixteenth level, that's either where you're starting or where you're ending. Either way, touch attacks with Power Attack is going to be good damage output, especially if you use a two-handed weapon. Blasting spells with a gish are typically a bad idea in general, but that's my opinion. |

Of note, Pathfinder PA... I like it honestly, but some of the alterations change things up a bit. Like the line at the end that says that it is incompatible with touch attacks. Same for the ranged version they added. Big bummer there. |

What? Boooo to that. Shame. But makes sense mechanically. |
| #9rydi123Jun 29, 2010 14:50:25 | Yeah, made the thrower build I was working on even more convoluted, since the 5th lvl M.Thrower trick becomes MUCH less useful with that wording. And it messes with a lot of Gish builds, with all the touch attacking via spells. |
| #10EndarireJul 04, 2010 16:17:04 | I'm unsure what source material's allowed, but I may enjoy playing a gish like the Trancer Hood (Build #8). |
