I wanted to make (plan out?) a Fleshwarper for an upcoming campaign. It's going to take place in a fairly generic world, don't have a lot of details yet, and I can use pretty much any books. I'm having trouble figuring out how to specialize.

A lot of the elder secrets seem to enhance perception related skills or things like climb. However, not many of those are class skills, suggesting that going the scout route isn't necessarily ideal. The low hit points make being a melee oriented character dangerous. As far as continuing as a spellcaster, the class itself doesn't give you a new way to cast spells.

So, what does one do with a Fleshwarper to make it interesting beyond a neat way to upgrade your biology?

One way would be to focus on your familiar. Get Improved or Draconic familiar, preferably medium size or larger. Then increase its size via Fleshwarper (+8 Str and other stuff). Buff it and let it fight, while remaining invisible and hidden. You could try to qualify with Hexblade / Duskblade / stalwart+the other variant sorcerer to improve familiar's BAB and HP.

I went with Sorcerer/Blood Magus 10/Fleshwarper 5. His familiar was a toad. From the class features the toad got fortification and wings. Then I grafted a full set of beholder eyestocks on it, a dispelling eye, and chitin plating.

Feats included Magical artisan, that crafting one from Eberron, eschew materials, and also leadership. Another interesting one was Mother Cyst. Combine with leadership and you now have a small army of scry points and suicide bombers. With the Cohort, I made him into a grappler with a complement of Undead grafts. Like Vampire fangs and ghoul arms.

Fun and creepy build. I designed it to be as non-gear dependant a build as possible. No spell book, components, very little gear.
