Followers with BAB +27 and more.

Apr 09, 2008 10:27:35		Ok the stack up doesn't give it at level 1 but the followers are:

Bard 1/fighter 4/Warchanter 10/xxx
BAB 14

Grab the leadership feat and lingering song feat

for your cohort:

Fighter 5/Kensai 8
BAB 13

Now have the cohort instill his BAB into the warchant who uses his Inspire legion to give all his followers *indeed all his allies within 60 ft* a BAB +27 use the combine song ability he got at warchanter 5 to inspire toughness giving everyone + 20 HP and then charge using singing shout *which doesn't cost an action* to give everyone in 60 ft. +4 to STR.

That means all allies within 60 ft will have:

BAB 27
+20 HP
+ 4 STR

The nice part is this build is completely open on what else you do with it, you only need 2 feats and the 10 levels in warchanter with an 8th level kensai.

So the question is what am I missing to improve this idea? (or has it been done already?)

Apr 09, 2008 10:31:30 		Kensai BAB progression in the same as a cleric's. So the follower's BAB would be 11 in your example.

The warchanter has a +14

The Kensai drops his to +0 and gives it to the warchanter giving the warchanter +25

The warchanter then starts inspire legion, checks BAB his is the highest at +25 and then every ally in 60 ft gets to use his BAB (of +25) so all those level 1 followers would use the +25 BAB as per the inspire legion ability.

All the other bonuses would still apply though.

*second note I missed adding in the Warchanters feat requirements: Combat Expertise and weapon focus.*

Apr 09, 2008 14:26:59 		It'd be pretty easy...just sub in some Crusader levels for your Fighter levels, and/or use some of the 5 free levels to dip Crusader. Wish I had my books...I'm wondering how to squeeze War Master's Charge in here...

But stuff like White Raven Tactics, Flanking Maneuver, etc. should still be solid gold.

I'm fairly certain that's NOT how the Kensai ability works. Anyone with the book handy want to comment?

Apr 09, 2008 16:05:31 		The Kensai Instill ability has a limit of the Kensai's class level, so he can't instill more than 10 BAB normally. Bloodlines or Legacy Champion can up that somewhat.

Crusader 6/Kensai 10/Legacy champion 4 can instill 13 of his 16 BAB. Unfortunately, that doesn't do anything special for his Signature Weapon.

Crusader 5/Kensai 10/Major Bloodline 3/Legacy champion 2 can instill all 16 of his BAB. Unfortunately, that doesn't do anything special for his Signature Weapon.

13 bab.

Also, singing shout is a standard action (not a non-action) and the kensai can only instill once per day. It's a fun trick, though

When you or your cohort charges, you get:
+57 to hit (15 BAB +11 Instill +3 Inspire Courage +2 Singing Shout +25 Inspire Recklessness +2 Charge)
+61 damage (+3 Inspire Courage +2 Singing Shout +2 Inspire Legion +15*3 Shock Trooper +2 Charge +9 Leading the Charge)
-32 to AC (-15 Inspire Recklessness -15 Shock Trooper -2 Charge)
