Alright I’m posting here to help my friend, he is making a 13th level character
Sorcerer 5/Frost mage 8

We are looking to find items to increase his blasting abilities, adding damage or increasing effective caster level. He is a Frost half elf and has the fallowing stats (he rolled high)
STR – 15
Dex – 17
Con – 18
Int – 17
Wis – 16
Char – 22
This is after bonus’s due to level and race (pathfinder set up Half elves get +2 to one stat)

These are his current feats, I’d also like to note in pathfinder feats are gained at different levels.
Snow Casting
Frozen Magic
Cold Focus
Greater Cold focus
Energy substitution Cold
Lord of Uttercold
Spell penetration
Piercing Cold

What I’m mainly looking for is any Magic items to help boost his damage output and spell save DCs, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My caster uses a lot of rays and touch attacks and got the Gloves Of Deadly Casting . Not really a big help for DC and stuff but very useful. They are in The Forge Of War. Pg 121.

How much of the pathfinder rules are you using, btw? Frost mage is not updated for those rules, and I'm not sure if you aren't better using straight sorcerer or something else - PF did give the Sorc a few extra features.

Anyway... Lord of the Uttercold may be ok for a necromancer, but in your case some extra metamagic (empower, chain, extend, energy augmentation, that CMage feat that allows you to eventually cast metamagic spells without additional time) may be more appropriate. Cold Focus and Greater cold focus... meh, I think in general metamagic feats are much better for a sorcerer.

The first thing I would do is switch over to a Dragonblood race (I'm partial to Silverbrow Humans, but any will do), as that lets you take Draconic Aura (Energy: Cold) which will eventually net you a +4 bonus to the DCs of all your cold spells. I also recommend Eschew Materials, to bypass actually have to have the snow on hand.

Secondly, icemail armor is a must for any cold-based caster. +2 to the DCs of all your spells with the [Cold] descriptor, plus hefty cold resist makes it your best option.

Gain Energy Supremacy cold from Paragonistic Apostle
All spells have the cold descriptor, all spells that deal damage count as originally being cold spells due to Elemental Savant’s Elemental Specialty:
Spells originally with the cold descriptor cast at +3 level
Spells not originally with the cold descriptor cast at +2 level
All gain +6 DC
All have +2 to defeat SR

What books are available? There are some interesting things for you if additional material is allowed (see below). For now, consider these:

- I would definitely avoid the 5th level of the elemental savant. +1 to DC of some spells for level of casting is a bad deal, especially for a sorcerer. You are losing 2 of your highest-level spell slots, 1 or more of your highest-level spells known, 1 to your caster level... for the equivalent of Spell Focus (cold)? No way.

- In fact, speaking strictly from optimization perspective I am a fan of dropping this PrC entirely and, if you want to turn everything into cold damage, getting into Archmage for the elemental mastery feature (and a few other nice tricks), but that's your call.

- Lord of the uttercold? Unless your party members are undead or you are trying to be a necromancer, I do not see why you should bother. You have piercing cold exactly for dealing with enemies resistant to cold damage.
- If you are keeping energy substitution - trade LotU for energy admixture. If not and you have no other ideas - any metamagic, probably empower.

- If you can use the Dragon compendium (or iirc issue 311 of Dragon Magazine) there are sorcerer bloodline feats that you might be interested in. For the price of losing access to 1 subschool (i.e. fire) you get 1 extra (fixed) spell known per level. I do not need to tell you how good that is, do I? Consider taking it instead of eschew materials.
