| #1fyastarterAug 02, 2009 0:23:59 | Just curious does anyone know of any full casting PRC's that a Drow could jump into with Hide, Move Silently, Spot and Listen or some of those in the skill list. I know a lot can be done with spells but hey. One thing i did look at was starting as Elf paragon then mage then +2 paragon and one of Drow paragon, but i don't want to lose a caster level just for better stealth skill ranks and I'm not planning to take beguiler, late entries is fine this character will probably start out going Anima mage (Drow LA is being bought off). So at the moment its going to be Binder 1 Double spec conjurer 2 Drow Paragon 1 Anima mage 10 and i'd like to fill the last 6 with something stealth oriented without losing caster levels, actual power level is irrelevant full caster is all the power one needs after all plus full anima mage is like awesome. I have had a look through the indexes but i couldn't really find anything most people will just use magic to do the stealth thing, its just i'd like a bit of a backup i guess. |

I took a quick gander and the best I could find was Daggerspell Mage, but it requires 2 feats and 1d6 sneak attack... not really worth the investment imo. I could have missed something though ... I only took a look in a few books. Shadowcraft Mage is another one with full caster progression but you have to be a gnome not a drow lol. |
| #3gorthawarAug 02, 2009 1:20:53 | Unseen Seer (Complete Mage) Requirements: Hide 8 ranks, Search 8 ranks, Sense Motive 4 ranks, Spellcraft 4 ranks, Spot 8 ranks. This is probably the best. |
| #4kurashuAug 02, 2009 1:51:33 | Spellwarp Sniper + Unseen Seer is probably your best bet actually. Actually, no. No it isn't. Get into prestige bard and then take a bard prestige class. Simple as cake. |
| #5fyastarterAug 02, 2009 10:25:52 | Well i don't think i can swing prestige bard because bard is in the campaign just fine. Anyone know how i can get search in an arcane casting class to get into unseen seer? |
| #6the_shamanAug 02, 2009 12:11:09 | Not with full casting... Uncanny trickster has it on the list (as well as most other skills you are looking for), though - it has all the prerequisite skills as class skills, except for spellcraft - which you shouldn't have any problems with, anyway. |

Anyone know how i can get search in an arcane casting class to get into unseen seer? Reflavor a Ruathar (or play an arcane Driz'zt) for drow. Ruadrow :P It gets search as a class skill. Also, Flexible Mind (a feat from Dragon magazine) adds any two skills as class skills for your entire career. Search (for class req's) and if the other one is free, I recommend UMD ![]() |

Anyone know how i can get search in an arcane casting class to get into unseen seer? If you time the purchase of your class skills and the timing of the class dips right, you'll still have no problem maxing out search. I like: 1) Arcane Trickster. 2) Unseen Seer. 3) Combining both. Depending on your entry, I think Unseen Seer is easier to enter, then you can switch over to Arcane Trickster if you want. I personally like Arcane Trickster for the ranged manipulation features - very thief like. Getting in early still allows you to use the Unseen Seer/Arcane Trickster rogue like abilities while they are relevant (rather than taking them late in the build). Another option, that may not help 100%, but might be good for a short dip are the Complete Scoundral trickery prc's. |

Search (for class req's) and if the other one is free, I recommend UMD I believe there's another feat in the WoTC splats that lets you add a class skill(s) for life as well, if the Dragon feat isn't available. Another option, though I'm away from books right now, is the Cityscape Web Enhancement, which lets you swap class skills for others. I think it mostly swaps wild/animal type skills for trickery type skills (search, hide, spot, move silently along those lines), but it might help. Order of classes/prc's taken will help with entry problems too. |
| #10meatzombieAug 02, 2009 19:45:51 | Well i don't think i can swing prestige bard because bard is in the campaign just fine. I dont know what this means. However. If you can go bard, do it and go sublime chord. youll get spells up to 9th and get your best bard spells very early. |
| #11fyastarterAug 02, 2009 20:18:17 | Thanks for all the help guys! I guess i will use these ideas next time then, i can't really shoehorn them into anima magewith much use... What do you guys think to finishing off anima mage with warweaver? I know i lose another caster level but the party is starting to look rather melee heavy and i think they will need the help tbh! |

The elven substitution levels in Races of the Wild (which a drow technically qualifies for) grant Search as a class skill. |
| #13EndarireAug 05, 2009 0:38:50 | Unearthed Arcana has the feat Skill Knowledge to make 1 skill always class. Player's Handbook II has the feat Apprentice to do the same. |
| #14dawnmorAug 05, 2009 14:45:29 | Arcane Trickster is an oldie but a goodie. Maybe a Level of Exemplar? get (Int Mod) of cross class skills as class skills? |
| #15danduAug 05, 2009 18:01:32 | The elven substitution levels in Races of the Wild (which a drow technically qualifies for) grant Search as a class skill. Ruathar from RotW is a prestige class that grants it too, I think. A drow can qualify for Ruathar... |
| #16BalthanonAug 05, 2009 18:49:32 | Ruathar from RotW is a prestige class that grants it too, I think. Ruathar is a good route into Unseen Seer and actually has all of the skills the original poster wanted as well. It's only 4 skill points per level, but that's better than wizard and getting into it is simple so long as you have the opportunity to meet the special requirement. Another class that is very good for skills is Urban Savant. I'm actually playing a skill based wizard right now and that is what I ended up going into in the end. My original plan was Wizard 5/Ruathar 3/Unseen Seer 10 and some other odds and ends, I ended up going Wizard 5/Urban Savant 10 though (with some dips into a couple of other classes.) Urban Savant has some very nice special abilities and the only major prerequisite is a wasted feat so long as your DM allows the substitution for bardic knowledge. |

| #18BalthanonAug 05, 2009 18:53:13 | As a Drow. Drow are elves too. And I'm sure there are plenty of CR 10 monster incursions to fight off in the Underdark. ;) All you need to do is be a 1st level peon spell-guard who cast a magic missile from 400 feet away to qualify for the class. ![]() Urban Savant would actually be my recommendation though. 6 levels of that gives some nice abilities and it's not hard to get into as I mentioned (though 7 levels would be better.) |
| #19jimmynidsAug 06, 2009 17:23:49 | Unearthed Arcana has the feat Skill Knowledge to make 1 skill always class. Player's Handbook II has the feat Apprentice to do the same. No such feat in Player's Handbook II bud.. perhaps its a different book you were thinking of? I would love to know for myself personally so lemme know when you find it. |
| #20imperialspectreAug 06, 2009 17:33:15 | It's DMG2, actually. |

I'm sure drow welcome with open arms and accept such people with such honoured racial status all the time... [ie if your GM lets you get away with that, what are you giving him to smoke before games?! ] |

An outsider, probably not, but I could see the drow's odd hierarchy and social systems having something in place to reward the individual who got the killing blow in an attack. (If only to actually motivate the populace to risk their necks.) |
