| #117flyingaxesOct 08, 2009 15:07:32 | So, I saw a reference to Antrhopomorphic creatures from Savage Species on the CO threads a while back. Looking it up, I noticed that some of the anthropomorphics actually make GREAT character options, such as: Anthropomorphic Bat: Small, -4 STR, +6 WIS, -2 CHA, fly speed 20 (average) >I can't think of any possible starting race for a druid or a spell-focusing cleric Anthropomorphic Octopus: Medium, +6 STR, +4 DEX, +2 CON, +4 WIS, -4 CHA, land speed 20, swim speed 20, natural armor +2, six arms, LA +1 and 2 Animal HD >Cons: You'd need some sort of breathing mask to function on land for extended periods of time, ECL +3 >Pros: Decent stat boosts for an ECL +3 race
Example of a fun Anthropomorphic Build: Anthropomorphic Squid: Fighter 2/Rogue 5/Assassin 9/Master Thrower 1 (ECL 20) Feats: Point Blank Shot, Precise shot, Weapon Focus (dagger), Multiweapon Fighting, Improved Multiweapon Fighting, Greater Multiweapon Fighting, Quick Draw Attacks: 8 arms, each with a weapon Important Class Abilities: Sneak attack +8d6, Palm throw Important Spells: Greater Invisibility Each arm can throw 6 daggers/round, leading to a total of 48 daggers, each of which deals sneak attack damage Total sneak attack damage: 384d6 (approximately 1344) |
| #2Maat_MonsOct 08, 2009 15:54:14 | Palm throw doesn't allow extra precision damage since both weapons use the same attack roll. You might try stormguard warrior. Using combat rhythm, you can make 24 touch attacks in a round. These deal no damage, but you gain a bonus to damage the next round equal to 5 times the number of successful touch attacks. That is potentially 2880 extra damage the second round, so 1440 extra damage per round on average. If you go with warblade, you can use time stands still to make 2 full attacks in a round, raging mongoose to make 4 extra attacks in a full attack, and dancing mongoose to make 2 extra attacks in a full attack. That could give you 27 attacks the first round and 58 the second. Using combat rhythm, that's potentially 7830 extra damage the second round. |
| #3naldorOct 08, 2009 18:11:55 | You missed the best one: Anthropormorphic Baleen Whale. :P |
| #4jgumbyrxOct 08, 2009 18:40:42 |
baleen, hell. gotta go with cachalot or orca -- the LA is worth it (at least, IMO). |
| #5kypriothOct 08, 2009 19:23:05 | Is there a anthromorphic panda bear, or anthropomorphic giant panda or something? This might sound really lame, but I think it would absolutely awesome to play as a Panda, they are one of my favorite animals. |
| #6jojolaggerOct 08, 2009 21:08:13 | let me guess. you want antrophmorphic panda for a monk right? |
| #717flyingaxesOct 08, 2009 21:54:10 | Well, they have anthropomorphic black bear and polar bear, and you could just average the stats... |
| #8widowOct 08, 2009 22:14:32 |
Oh, no. The baleen whale gets full BAB, +20 stat adds, 9 points of natural armor, and large size with 0 LA and 3 HD. The +1LA for the cachalot gets you +2 Con and Wis. The orca for +2 LA gives +2 Dex, Con, and Wis with less armor (6NA). I much rather take 2 fighter levels and go right into Warhulk. If you want to tack on LA, take Lolth touched for +1 that gives +6 str, +6 con, and immunity to fear.
I always thought the giant octopus with the silverwraith template would be pretty sweet.

| #9kypriothOct 08, 2009 22:20:15 | maybe, but i know what you're thinking, or atleast I think. I would never, EVER, base a character off something like kung-fu panda. |
| #10jgumbyrxOct 08, 2009 22:55:50 |
good point. I concede. |
| #11felgorothOct 09, 2009 7:54:36 |
No, I think he's thinking of the Panda character from Tekken |
| #12datenshi_no_kaiOct 09, 2009 8:18:39 | Lol, I've got to use a anthropomorphic squid/octopus in one of my campaigns as a boss now. |
| #13aleristhes33kerOct 09, 2009 8:59:27 | I once tried an Antromorphic Bat exalted druid with vow of poverty and the "Monk-Druid" from unearthed arcana... Man, that wa soo cool! I had an AC of 25 at 1st level without focusing on it And my DC for entangle was around 18, again, on 1st level!
Or think about a weasel Warrior... Bite them once with improved Natural weapon |
| #14AirosOct 18, 2009 13:15:12 | Let's see... Thus far I've played an anthro tiger rogue, and a Half-Fiend Anthropomorphic Rabbit Fighter. Of course, I had to build a full set of stats for a rabbit first, and even then he only saw a few games. I've been working off and on with an epic PC of mine who I am using the rebuilding rules, (sorta), to go from elf to anthro tiger. He's currently a 34th level wizard, so I'm not too worried about losing a couple of caster levels. I was thinking of stating up a bunch of anthro PCs, (not to be confused with the character Pintsize from Questionable Content), just for kicks. Squirrel, fox, panda, another tiger or two. I've toyed with the idea of extending the template to apply to certain Magical Beasts, just for kicks. Displacer Beast, Unicorn and Griffon spring to mind. Just make sure you're careful with the level adjustments. Broken doesn't even begin to describe that section of the book. So far, I haven't see a major issue with the tiger, and I personally used YabbaTheWhat's Feature Points to determine the LA of an anthro rabbit. The baleen whale is stupid broken. And, for your viewing pleasure, a picture! |
| #15snakeman830Oct 18, 2009 17:08:22 | Hellvina! Sorry, I just know someone who that completely describes. It's been well known that the Anthropomorphic Animals in Savage Species are probably the most broken part of the book (yes, even Feral falls flat when compared to some of them). Probably best to go through and decide on an appropriate LA yourself. |
| #16felgorothOct 18, 2009 18:56:15 | Anthropamorphic Light Horse: -6 str, +4 dex, +4 wis, +3 natural armor, base speed: 50ft. no LA. I want to play this purely for the 50ft. base speed. |
