| #1aladNov 27, 2009 13:34:12 | So I have a 12th level Shifter Druid 9/Moonspeaker 3 Feats are Dreamsight Elite, Craft Contingent Spell, Shifter Instincts, Extra Shifter Trait(Beasthide),Warden Initiate. (I may retrain shifter instincts next level, taking suggestions) Here’s where it gets funky. I’ve taken the Unearthed Arcana alternate druid where you lose wildshape and armor prof., but gain Monk AC bonus & Wis to AC as well as some ranger abilities and fast movement. I have also taken Shifter sub levels and 1st and 4th level, losing my animal companion and resist natures lure, but gaining beast spirit abilities. My question for you is where to go from here? If I take more druid levels I continue gaining AC, movement bonuses, favored enemies, as well as the quick cast/rapid summons abilities from beast spirit. However, if I finish out Moonspeaker, I actually gain wildshape, get some summoning options, a permanent +2Wis, more energy resistance and lots of other nifty stuff. I realize that I haven’t built a DruidZilla so far, that wasn’t the point. This char is a cohort and I wanted the fast movement to keep up with my main char (70ft/rd), as well as the lightened paperwork that comes from no Wildshape/Animal Companion. He’s actually doing more than fine as far as fitting into the group’s power level (last session he used Control Winds to destroy an enemy occupied town, the place was torn apart). He actually has access to the highest level spells in the game due to other casters having templates/LA’s. I’d just like some advice from the CO experts on where to go next. My gut tells me that finishing druid is stronger, but seeing all of the wildshape options and knowing that I’m not making use of them makes me think I should just go Moonspeaker. This character is primarily a Summoner/Battlefield Controller. I have yet to engage in melee. Thanks in advance. |

I'd go with Moonspeaker, just because it has more interesting abilities, even though you don't really need Wildshape, and would have a limited version anyway. What's Druid gonna give you? A Thousand Faces? A few more points to AC? Faster movement? You're a caster, you can do those anyway. Me, I'd feel it's my duty to ask to stack Wildshape levels from Moonspeaker with Druid levels for Beast Spirit. Makes sense, no? |

Thanks for the reply, the main draw of druid at this point is the Beast Spirit abilities. An extra, quickened 6th level spell every day seems handy. I assume you mean stacking Animal Companion/Beast Spirit levels? I'll check that possibility out, although after the hurricane I threw at the town last encounter I'm not sure it would go over... any ideas for retraining that feat? |
