Getting an opportunity to play in a D&D game. 3.5 PHB only, level 4, one other player (elvish druid) in the party. My rolled stats are 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 9. I'm thinking dwarf diviner (evocation barred) to be one of my better bets. Arranged, modified by level bonus and race = Str 9, Dex 16, Con 16, Int 16, Wis 12, Cha 11. Chose a rat familiar, and likely to buy some leather barding (10gp, no real penalty, +1 AC). Main question is what kind of equipment to buy to start off. I'm being told it's a poli-ticky game, which could mean anything. I've got standard WBL, so 5.4K. I'm thinking at least a +1 mithril buckler for the AC. Any other suggestions for the best possible gearset or build choice for my limitations?
