| #1jason23Jun 03, 2009 3:16:04 | Thinking about playing a Gestalt 20 Dread Necro//13 Duskblade 2 Spellsword 5 Blackguard.... The touch spell channeling just seems really good but i don't know if its worth 13 levels in Duskblade. I was curious if anyone had any feedback or advice on something that provide better synergy. |
| #2minstrelinthegalleryJun 03, 2009 9:37:34 | Here's a bunch of Charisma based classes with pros and cons Bard Pros: Charisma synergy, improves saves and BaB, access to some martial weapons, tons of special features, 6th level spells from a decent list, spellcasting in light armor, greatly improves skills, requiem feat allows Bardic Music to bolster undead Cons: Flavor doesn't mesh well without imagination (Dethklock anyone?)doesn't help Hp, only improves BaB by one step Sorcerer Pros: Charisma synergy, 9th level spellcasting from the best list, flavor meshes fine, tons of spells per day, gain familiar earlier Cons: Doesn't improve skeleton (BaB, Hp, saves) Can't wear armor, doesn't improve saves, no new weapons Warlock Pros: Charisma synergy, perfect flavor meshing, Ivocations and Eldritch Blast, improves BaB, improves skills, can use light armor Cons: no improvement to Hp or saves, spells are generally better than invocations Shu Genja I'm not totally familiar with this class Pros: Charisma synergy, 9th level spells, divine spells (therefore no armor problems) Cons: Mechanics are odd, for spells list to choose from, none all that great, flavor is strange Favored Soul Pros: Better saves and BaB, 9th level spellcasting from a great list, weapon proficiencies, some good class features, easy flavor (pick a necro god, like Wee Gas, or Orcus) Divine (no armor restrictions) Cons: Skills don't improve, is generally worse than a cleric (but who isn't?) Hexblade Pros: Better BaB saves and Hp (and I believe skills), light armor, 4th level spells from an okay list, proficiency with all martial weapons, curse ability, mettle perfect flavor Cons: kind of a crappy class by itself, curse is kinda sucky spellcasting is too little too late, worse than a duskblade (but it does have cha synergy) My personal favorites are bard, warlock and favoured soul |

| #4yawarJun 03, 2009 10:33:34 | What about: 20 Dread Necro//Paladin of Tyranny 2 or Paladin of Plaughter 4(trading spallcasting for feats)/ Hexblade 3(dark companion) / Blackguard 10/ ... + a lot to your saves, +4 to DCs, mount and familiar, good hit points or 20 Dread Necro// Sorcerer(Metamagic specialist variant) 5/ Incantatrix or Incantatar 10/Archmage 5 real killer |
| #5jason23Jun 04, 2009 12:55:58 | i'm really looking for a strong Melee Dread Necro... most of the dread necro stuff would be done by either support (animating dead after the fight) or channeling spells in fight |
| #6jaronkJun 04, 2009 13:29:20 | The Paladin of Tyranny 3/Hexblade 4 combo is quite useful here... with Dark Companion, that's -4 to the saves of everyone in melee range. That REALLY helps your touch spells. The +cha to saves twice is handy too, as is the full BAB and marshal weapon proficiency. If you want, you could then add in some Binder for Foculor and get an additional -2 to saves. Just a thought. JaronK |
| #7SenevriJun 04, 2009 15:02:29 | Hm. I've never played Gestalt, but I think I'd want RKV 7 and Factotum 11 in it. Does Dread Necro qualify for RKV on it's own or do we need an actual Divine class? Inanycase, I think RKV only progresses divine casting. Still, multiple standard and swift actions per round should be fun. So, Dread necro 3/Favored Soul 1/Crusader 1/RKV 7 on one side, Factotum 11 on other. Then, go to dual casting. You can cast up to 4 spells per round, so it may even be worth it. Maybe. I'm sure one could do better, though... DN 20 on one side (PRCs on Crusader/Factotum level spots), Factotum X /Ur-priest 1/Crusader 1/RKV 7/Factotum (11-X) on other. Better. |

Inanycase, I think RKV only progresses divine casting. Dread Necro doesn't have any prereqs its a base class The Factotum looks really neat... but is in one of the few books that i nor the DM own and hence isn't allowed... |

| #10cragghunterJun 04, 2009 16:35:55 | After some more thinking.... and feedback on this thread and PMs.... this is what i'm thinking What ? Is ? This ? I don't get it you are all over the place and why take some of these feats for things you don't have, divine metamagic what? forge ring for incantatrix where is incantatrix in your build . Not trying to be rude but you need to start simpler and read about feat, class, before you take them . |
