| #1RauthissSep 07, 2009 13:44:57 | My friend is running a gestalt campaign from Level 1, and I'm looking for a character build to play, but I can't honestly decide one. If possible, I'd like to play a spelltheif in some manner, but avoid being CHA based. Right now I'm just thinking Rogue/Spelltheif, for sneak attack. I'd like to progress spelltheif 20, but rogue is debatable, and I'd like to avoid dipping if at all possible. Could you charops help me out? Thanks! |
| #2mervin_magnusSep 07, 2009 21:36:17 | I just recently made a arcane/rouge build that I fell in love with (check Tricklock! thread) the Cha synergy would also work if u go full spelltheif on the other side
Unfortunately the build was using a pixie (+4 LA) with 1 lvl of LA buyoff (just so you know, i qualified for arcane trickster using the mage hand feat, and pixie 3 lvl spell)
For you I would:
Side 1: Warlock 1/ Bloodline 3/ Rouge 1/ Arcane Trickster 7/ Escalation Mage 2/ Hellfire Warlock 3/ Mindbender 1/ XXX 2 Side 2: Wizard 3/ Spelltheif 17
Make sure you grab the wizard/spelltheif multiclass feat for broken goodness when combined with bloodline. Especially that you don't pay the consequences for a bloodline in a gestalt (you pick ur best BAB, HP, etc. which will be ur last 2 lvls of wizard, and ur 1st lvl of spelltheif)
Wizard caster level 26 (3+3, 17+3) Only 2nd lvl spells (use for low buffs) Spell Theif caster level 26 (2,2,2,1) Warlock caster level 32 (1+3, 7+3, 2+3, 3+3, 1+1, 2+3)
Strategy: Go invisible using warlock invocaiton, and use flight invocation Spam overpowered hellfire blasts, that get more power from escalations The blasts gain ur massive amount of sneak attack dice (12d6), bc ur invisibility make them flatfooted u can give up 1d6 of that awsome sneak attack to steal spells (due to bloodline progression) you get to spam those spells back as an immediate action if an opponent can see u, fly away and use eldritch spear (safe 250ft range), perhaps put up some wall of fires to slow them down
P.S. If you don't like the simplicity of my 2nd side, you can always stick on a PrC before lvl 5 or you can just yell at me for using the bokeness of bloodlines in a gestalt build, i don't mind |
