| #1TerraismApr 30, 2008 11:04:42 | We're running our final 3.x game over the next month. Pretty close to no-holds-barred. Five players, though we can only count on threeish on any given night. So we're gestalting, and I'm trying to help someone fill in their character. Looking for some advice from here. Rules in Use
Right now, the party consists of:
So we've got tanking covered (the knight/cleric), some pretty absurd burst damage on the Xeph (and to a lesser extent, the tiefling and elf,) trapfinding, lots of skills. Looking at having this character be some form of full caster, but I'm having a hard time getting it started. Wizard//Artificer springs to mind, but while having a lot of spells is nice, it's only acceptable at 4th level, not amazing. Probably looking at utility/control casting more than just about anything else, so Wizard definitely seems like the choice for one side, but what else? We've already got a solid gish in the party, so we want to avoid that here. Any thoughts? |

Heres some basic concepts Summonaholic Druid 3/ Cloistered Cleric 3 / Wiz 1 /Sorc1 ~Tons of low-level summons to support party ~Augment Summoning will give summoned critters an ok combat boost ~Druid/Cleric ability to spontaneously switch spells allows caster to prep Utility/Heal for Druid and Summoning/Utility for Cleric Auras-R-Us Bard 2/ Marshal 2/ Dragon Shaman 2 / +? ~Heavy melee group; Marshal 4 is tempting for the move ability ~Charisma is main focus so Warmage would be a nice addition as well ~MIC there's an item set that works great for bard/marshal |

Don't take any spells on your bard side that allow saves, keep all those on your Wiz side. Instead, take spells like Haste, Solid Fog, Invisibility, etc on your Bard side to supliment your more versitile Wiz casting. Take Dragonfire Inpiration to turn your whole team into a roving fireball, then control the battlefield around them to channel all that firey melee mass on destroying 1 target at a time. Other than that, Sculpt Spell, Extend, etc typical GOD wizard stuff is great. |

Lets you cast much higher level spells from your domain than a L4 could. Plus cleric would give you more AC. Ask your GM if you can throw that on Cloistered if you prefer skillpoints. |
