| #1nicholas_the_paladinMay 18, 2008 9:03:32 | Hi Guys, I'm playing a 14th level Paladin5/Cleric1/Fighter2/Fist of Raziel6.... that will make an instant jump to 17th level in a one-shot adventure....which will make him Pal5/Cl1/F2/FoR-9. It's an old group, that get's back with a lot of freedom to adjust our old characters. Besides the extra feat at 15th level, we'll be awarded another 2 feat (!!) when we put effort in our characters.... which I'll do. So I have 3 feats to choose. Do you have some ideas? Feats till now: - combat expertise - power attack - divine might - weapon focus - improved trip - knock down (3rd ed) - divine shield - servant of the heavens - practiced spellcaster My role in the group: - charge and hit the crap out of an opponent: in practice I'm the main melee-tank (I use the 'charging smite' option for paladins) - Buff the group as much as possible (since my spell DC aren't that high) So spellcasting is mainly buffing. I'll be casting 5th levels cleric-spells at 17th level. I'll buff when I have the opportunity, but my main function is in melee. My ideas till now (domains: War, Good or Law): - Good Devotion (CC): give DR and good-weapons to your allies - Martial study/stance (ToB):....don't know which one yet, but it seems promising - Holy Warrior (CC): I'll get +5 damage on each attack - Law devotion (CC): with a swift-action I'll get a +7 to all attacks or AC for one minute - Awesome Smite (CC): bypassing DR, ignoring %-misses and tripping with smites is really nice...but I already have the 'knockdown' feat that does the latter for me. - Sacred Vitality (Libris Mortis): Use a turn attempt to gain immunity to ability damage, ability drain and energy drain And for 1 minute duration Do you have some more ideas? Thanks ! |

Take a look at the retraining rules in PHB2 and discuss with your DM. In terms of feats awesome smite and law devotion are pretty solid choices as well as sacred vitality. |

| #6reisMay 19, 2008 14:49:21 | check out this thread: http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-391015 at 17th level you want to maximize your cleric caster level since high level spellcasting is pretty much universally better than melee. |
| #7nicholas_the_paladinMay 20, 2008 2:15:19 | check out this thread: http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-391015 extra smiting and extra turning are good options, but with a high CHA and high # smites, I don't think it'lll be first on my wish list at 17th level you want to maximize your cleric caster level since high level spellcasting is pretty much universally better than melee. yeah, yeah, I know...I'm on the CharOp-boards and spell-casting is everything. It's just that I want to be a melee-man first and a spell-caster second. (we already have a sorceror and a druid, so spellcasting is pretty much covered) Thanks ! |
