| #1drizheimMar 26, 2013 2:51:35 | I am making a new character for a campaign at level 14 and I was thinking about an optimization based on Jaime Lannister from Game of Thrones. That being said, everyone please avoid spoilers out of courtesy for those who haven't seen the show or read the book. Just assume I mean Jaime from the start of the Song of Ice and Fire series. He's supposed to be an almost unmatched swordsman, so if you assume he's a full fledged fighter (again, at character level 14), this would be the feat selection I imagine. Feedback is appreciated. I didn't go with the Knight class because, from the start of the series, his honor is quite debatable, but again, I'll take any suggestions. 14 feats (based on Human 14th level fighter, and assuming you meet the ability score requirements) 1st - Weapon Focus (Longsword), Power Attack, Combat Expertise 2nd - Dodge 3rd - Mounted Combat 4th - Weapon Specialization (Longsword) 5th - 6th - Mobility, Cleave 7th - 8th - Melee Evasion 9th - Lunging Strike 10th - Melee Weapon Mastery (Slashing) 11th - 12th - Spring Attack, Ride-By Attack 14th - Slashing Flurry The mounted feats are to represent Jaime Lannister's mounted combat ability rather than building a "perfect swordsman," but I am open to your input if you think that should be the focus. My main interest is making as true a character as you can (with the limitation of being a 14th level human) to Jaime Lannister. I thought a strong AoO build might be an option too, if someone thinks that fits his style. |

| #3Slagger_the_ChuulMar 26, 2013 4:25:43 | The thing I'd say to keep in mind is that the setting in question isn't at 14th level in terms of power. It's much closer to a Lord of the Rings level in terms of the equivalent game effects, where famous characters barely make 5th level. It's not bad or inferior by any means, but the feats people are expected to achieve aren't as extreme. Not to say that you can't create version for that level, just don't be surprised if he's doing things that seem beyond his normal scope. |

Iron Heart focused, at a guess. Wall of Blades, Punishing Stance, and Disarming Strike or Steel Wind basically describe his entire moveset that I remember. |

| #6drizheimMar 26, 2013 15:23:25 | I agree with you all that he probably wouldn't be that high of a level, but at the same time, I wanted to make a recreation that's pretty accurate to him to play as in my campaign. It's almost a theme in our group since we have a sorceress named Zelda and a ranger named Mad Martigan, so I figured why not? So rather than making myself purposely lower level than the group for accuracy, just pretend he was 14th level. As to warblade, perhaps if you were straight Iron Heart. My concern with that is some of the maneuvers are pretty extraordinary. My DM had the idea that Jaime might even have a few levels in swashbuckler for Insightful Strike since Jaime is an intelligent fighter and doesn't come off as a brute, nor is his strength really mentioned at all as much as his pure skill in swordplay. Warblade definitely plays into that with class features alone. But as a warblade, what feats would you get them? 8, I think? If you assume full 14th level Human Warblade. I do like EruditeApe's suggestion since I forgot about how kind of pure swordplay that Iron Heart was. |
| #7frost.fireMar 26, 2013 15:49:07 | Warblade has nice intelligence synergy and you can even use diamond mind (sure its a little cheesy anime) but some of the maneuvers are all about being one with the blade. Also jamie is definitly emulated by the white raven maneuvers. He's a natural commander as shown throughout the nbooks and was raised knowing he was becoming an army general like tyrel lanister |
| #8draco1119Mar 26, 2013 15:53:54 | Yep. I'd pretty much beg off on the Tiger Claw maneuvers, except maybe one maneuver in order to qualify for Blood in the Water. |
| #9drizheimMar 26, 2013 17:14:18 | Trying to draw back to feat selection, Robilar's Gambit stood out as a very Jaime-like tactic. His overconfidence can sometimes be the better of him. I am still looking through books so I didn't mention this one in the original feat list in my first post. |
| #10EruditeApeMar 29, 2013 11:20:28 | No, it really isn't. Jaime is arrogant and not sloppy enough to let people actually hit him. Combat Expertise is much more accurate, really. |
