Grapple optimization?

Jul 07, 2010 13:26:44 Hello, I have searched a bit but haven't found anything on the subject so please forgive me if this question has been answered and direct me to the proper thread.

Is there any way to optimize your grapple besides the obvious 'MOAR STR' and improved grapple?

My goal is to defeat Thor - the god of thunder in a grapple. I understand that he has a +81 to grapple
(92 str -> 41 str mod and 20 Barbarian/20 Ranger =20+20 BAB = 40 BAB =>40 BAB + 41 str mod =81 grapple) in adittion to always getting 20 on checks so I need to be able to beat 101 grapple...

Being colossal gives +16. Grip of iron gives +14 at manifester level 21. Turning into a mimic lets you establish or maintain a grapple automatically. Justiciar (Complete Warrior) lets you use your use rope check to hog-tie an opponent you grapple. Freedom of movement lets you resist or escape a grapple automatically.

In fact, if you do want to build something that can stop Thor, I can think about a Psychic Warrior as described earlier or a Mage. Thats right!

Pardon me for any inaccuracy, but I've been away for too long to remember all the details.

You can get Master Transmogrifist Prestige Class from Complete Arcane. There you can select an Illithid as one of your chosen forms. At it's last level, this prestige class gives you the option to combine one form with one characteristic of another. Just think about the strongest or more bizarre ability regarding a creature and voilá.

Thinking at 20th level, you should be able to be a Mind Flyer with the strength of a Dire Bear (30), cast Enlarge on yourself to get the bonus to grapple and as the last option, Tenser's Transformation. This operation would give you a 37 (20 BAB + 15 STR + 2 Size) bonus + Tentacles. Ok, this is far from 101, but add some epic levels and tons of magical items and you'll be getting there.

Jul 09, 2010 8:23:25 I always like Jean Grey modified with Reaping Mauler to get Lucy, but I'm not sure the CLs suffice. Of course, if we can do a further mod of spellthief CL cheese to get a CL in the 80s....
